If you are not a heavy data user, say less than 3GB monthly, major savings are available. I was with Verizon and all the costs just kept adding up. Monthly fee, line fee, 911, taxes, regulatory, on and on....

Is Xfinity right for everyone, no. Is it right for savers who don't use a phone constantly for streaming, for video, for online gaming, for regular Google mapping; yes it is.

My monthly bill is between $16 and $28, just depends on data usage. Locations I had a problem with Verizon service are the same locations I have problems with Xfinity, but those are very, very few.

My Verizon bill, no matter what was around 60 per line. Don't need to pay all that money to pad someone else's pockets.

Look at your monthly data avg., to see what makes cents and dollars.

My friend works for Comcast and they use a combonation of wifi hot spots which most customers have in their internet modem with a bulit in public guest wifi option. (you can shut if off but is on already. Comcast also uses Verizon's network with performance very similar. If you're happy with Verizon then be cautious about switching because Verizon mobile is known for much better customer service compare to Xfinity/Comcast.
You can also buy your own modem and router in which case you don't have to share the bandwidth and provide FREE hotspot for someone else at your expense (VERY slick move by Comcast by the way since not only you pay them for leasing the modem in many cases you also power it up with your electricity for them to offer service that they advertise as being "their own".

The hotspot setting can be disable from "my account". I agreed that Xfinity should be more transparent on this matter as It appear to be hidden.
Enable or Disable the Xfinity WiFi Home Hotspot Feature in My Account

Go to customer.xfinity.com/#/settings/security/hotspot.
Sign in to your account using your Xfinity ID and password.
Click Turn Off or Turn On to disable or enable your public hotspot. (Note: This is turned on by default.)
Confirm your selection.

Here is the post from a user above:
"Last December my friend bought iPhone from Xfinity. He thought it will be unlocked once paying off in full. That's true but Xfinity taking full price in 24 installments only (No option to pay full in one installment) & as per them phone cannot be unlocked until that time."

YMMV about them to unlock it for you or not after paying it off.
This is not true. You can immediately pay off, they take some time to unlock so consider 3 months. Unless they change T&C for this deal.

I have Xfinity only for student internet ($10 or so a month). And I don't currently have a carrier to Port a number.
Can i get in on this as a new customer? I mostly connect to wifi, but would like the $15/gb option.
Will they extend this to new customers of their mobile service?

Can I port in a google voice number, select the lowest plan ($15/month), get the phone unlocked after 60 days, then cancel and use the phone on other carrier like AT&T?

How did you get the internet for $10/month? I am also a student.

Thanks for posting this. Lot of misinformation being spread here. I was an Xfinity customer until last year when I moved and I could no longer get their internet service. And I had availed one of their incredible deals like this. You cannot pay off the device while purchasing at the store (my experience 2 yrs ago) and you have to wait till the first bill is generated to pay off. Online it could be different but I would be skeptical of their online buying/activation process. There is a process for Xfinity mobile service activation (and I had trouble activating at their store). Also remember that they are a cable company, not a telecom wireless company. While their staff at the store are enthusiastic and friendly they do not know much about wireless systems and processes (my experience 2 yrs ago; things could have changed now). Similarly for unlocking the device there is a clear process and if you follow it, the device will be unlocked w/o a hitch. Also unlocking an iPhone is relatively easier process than Android devices. These kind of deals on a phone (upfront discounts or visa gift cards) are becoming rare nowadays (most are bill credits). I would jump on these deals if you have an Xfinity service and port out after discount and unlock if you dont like them.

Is there a way to get this w/o porting a number? I need a new number for work.

I have purchased two phones in the past from Xfinity
1. iPhone 7 256GB
2. iPhone 11 128GB (ported with Google Voice, and received the Visa Gift Card ~$250)
and the unlock process was straight forward and didn't take much trouble (post 60 days for both)

for someone that has been a verizon subscriber for the last 20 years, and happy with their service, what are the pros and cons switching to Xfinity mobile? I understand they use the same vzw towers? So thinking speeds and reception should be the same?

Curious to know if anyone from vzw switched to here, and their thoughts.
We switched 5 lines from Verizon to Xfinity Mobile last month. Our bill went from ~$200/mo + taxes to $60/mo + taxes for 10GB shared data across all lines. We did add $10/mo Canada calling on one line where a family member makes a lot of calls to Canada.

Prior to switch, I reviewed our data usage on Verizon for 3+ months and we were only using ~8GB data combined, so it works great for us.

Everyone uses WiFi at home. Porting from Verizon to Xfinity was almost instant using BYOD iphones.

Our Internet account was given an extra $20/mo discount for having Internet + Xfinity Mobile, so we are paying ~$40/mo + $10 Canada calling + taxes for 5 lines indirectly.

When travelling internationally, I plan on using eSim service with Tmobile prepaid or google fi for data and VOLTE.

Domestic Data backup: I am hoping that Visible will support eSim soon and I can add that as a backup on one line that uses the most data, so our bill would be ~$100 (still better than ~$200 at Verizon).

600kbps hotspot speed is the biggest deal breaker for me. You cannot even get it beyond that with paid data, which makes no sense

Hmmm..I have an XS Max & we currently have Verizon. I wonder if I can get in on this, and either port in/port out back to VZW or maybe stick with them, if they offer good home internet in tri-state area for a family. The problem is, I recently cracked the back of my iPhone XS Max, any thoughts guys?
What are you asking for it? I would be interested in purchasing it.

Anybody know if existing customers will get the discount (not gift card) on a new line (not upgrade)? IIRC, you pay sales taxes on the amount of the device before any rebate (but not before a discount, I think). That may be an extra bit for existing customers but not new ones.

Xfinity phones are locked until paid off, I believe. I unlocked my last xfinity iPhone after first billing cycle as I paid in full when opening the account, admittedly a couple of years ago now.
Because Xfinity uses Verizon network, will this work on Verizon network without unlocking?
