Great price, but it sucks they cheaped out on the screen. I don't know if it is an ips screen or not, but I know the specs says it is 220nit which is too dim for my liking. It does have 2 dimm slots though with 1 filled with a 8gb stick. So an upgrade to dual channel would be a initial mod. I just could not handle the screen though. I wouldn't care if it were 60hz as long as it was bright. Gonna pass on this. I also like that it is the 6 core model.

It's difficult to find good screens in this price range.
The hinge on this looks like those problematic Dell hinges. Any known issues?
I researched this one a while back and the old models of this had the exact same problem even when opening/closing the laptop from the middle. Someone did mention that they made the hinge wider in the new models but it doesn't exactly instill faith in me.

I have this exact laptop. The screen is good resolution, but not as bright as I'd like. It's bright enough, but could be better. It's fast as hell. But the problem I have are the speakers. I know laptop speakers usually aren't great, but these are absolutely horrendous. Like an absolute joke. Can't hear anything.
I personally really like this for a budget laptop. I purchased for on sale for $630. Even at $70 more, I think the 300nit, 60Hz IPS screen is worth the additional cost. Also, the 8GB of memory is a single SODIMM, and there is an empty slot, which I've already populated with an additional 8GB of memory.

I would have considered this as well, but it was OOS, and still is.

nvm - just read above, it's 1 8GB DIMM with an open slot. Good!
