With the way things could be headed price wise (AMD now raising prices) this seems like a pretty good deal if your primary focus is gaming. There are lots of comparisons to the 6 core 12 thread 8700k when the 9700k succeeded it. I haven't kept up with all the details but I believe the 10600k would be quite close to the 8700k in terms of performance, and microcenter sells the 10600k for $270.
Even though Intel is losing on pretty much all fronts performance wise I do not think they will be backing down on pricing, as they still have a much better brand image that is what matters to uninformed consumers (ie 90+% of the population).
AMD will release $200 Ryzen 5600 next month.
it should be faster than i9 9900k
I read the 5600 (non x) is not coming until 2021. Seems like AMD is taking a page out of Intels book on this one now that they are all around performance leader

However, you might think about returning and waiting for AMD Zen 3 5000 series that is coming in November with a 20% speed increase.
