How are the CPO items through Direct Tools? Do they come packaged in the original retail box? Thinking of this as a gift and don't want it to be obviously used.

I've picked up 10 or so tools from them and they've always come in plain, generic brown boxes, whether refurb, CPO, or blemished, with nothing other than shipping info. Usually they aren't even packed very well, with the tool rattling around and nothing more than some crumpled craft paper. I seem to remember one thing that came in the original Ryobi box that was new, but I'm not certain if it was from these guys. The tools themselves have been excellent. I had one battery that was bad but they just asked for some documentation and then replaced it. So, if you're looking for a fancy gift, plan on doing some creative reboxing.
They say it's ok for small nailers but nothing else - no ratchets and not very good at filling tires. Also, it has a fair bit of noise, one site put it at around 90 decibels.

Huh. I've gotten plenty of the "factory blemished" ones and they've always been basically brand new in the retail box. Thanks for the info.
I have a decent amount of Ryobi CPO tools and I've only had one that you could tell it was CPO. It was the brad nailer and it had a ding in the silver logo plate. Usually you're going to get something that looks new, but it's not impossible to get something with a scratch on it.
What is the warranty on the CPO product? Can you return to HD?
It depends on the Home Depot. I had to call Ryobi for warranty once and they gave me a couple tool shops that could do the repair and said Home Depot could also do it, but they may not since I didn't buy it there. So short answer: They can, but they don't have to.
Would this be good enuf to blow out a 12 zone sprinkler system, zone by zone ?
No way. You need a decent sized compressor or you'll spend hours. I use 30gallon compressor and it will start running after 2 or 3 zones. It's more about CFMs for winterizing sprinklers. I have to wait for my compressor to build back up to finish going through all 6 zones.

Initially, I thought (CPO) in the title was the tool dealer...
