Spoke with Sam's Club customer service about 2 weeks ago. Told your membership must be expired for 6 months before considered a "new" member sign up.

However, if someone else signs up as a new member then you can be their complimentary member no matter how long ago your membership expired.

I have both Costco and Sam's. I always get this Sam's deal. It always comes out free with deals like these. After going to Sam's and Costco's for 10+ years I have found some items at Sam's that I can't find at Costco. If I could only choose 1 membership it would probably be Costco but I really like Sam's too. I love the scan and go at Sam's. It really beats out having to wait in checkout to pay. Also the hotdogs are way better at Sam's lol.

Do you need a more compelling reason than free?

Has anyone successfully tried this with a different email and have it worked and the $45 credit loaded. My membership expired last month and I've been planning to renew and I want to take advantage of this deal
I created a new account by using my gmail account and inserting a "period" in-between two of the characters as google will ignore them.

Waited 3 days and went to Sams and bought about 50 dollars worth of items. The 45 dollars came off at the register and I only paid about 4 bucks.

Unfortunately you just have to have faith that the credit is there because there is nowhere in the app for you to see it.

The early posts said the credit would be only taken off at the regular register, not scan and go, not self checkout...
Self checkout isn't listed in the fine print, but I think you're right. I went shopping again today, and successfully got $30 off at a regular register where a cashier checked me out.

I'm a Costco shopper. Does anyone have some compelling reasons as to why trying Sam's Club might be worthwhile?
Well we are Sam's Club shoppers and decided to give Costco a try. Boy were we disappointed! Every single item that Sam's had and Costco carried also, Costco was more expensive. Every single item. It's almost like Costco took Sam's price and just added $5 to the price. Now this may be different in other areas of the USA but where we live, meats, produce, deli and baked goods were far more expensive at Costco than Sam's.

I would jump on this but requires to goto store in order to user $45 coupon. Why not online? Nearest sams in 30miles and not worth the trip

Any one know how they define "new member" my Sam's club just expired couple days ago. Can I join as new? Shouldn't add my wife's name as alt last time (she didn't use it at all)otherwise for sure I can use this deal again.

I've been a Costco member for 15 years and most produce has always been grossly overpriced and often much worse quality. Especially berries and fruits that usually don't last long. I rarely ever buy produce there, too many disappointing purchases. I also rarely buy fresh meat there (maybe once a year) but we don't buy much of that in general. Meat generally also seems on the higher end compared to most grocery stores.

I had a membership and online account many years back. When I tried to join again, it asked me to login because my email address is already registered. However, when I tried to login, it refuses because my membership number isn't in use. What should I do then? Should I just use a new email address?

I bought a $45 Walmart gift card ( 5% cash back on both Discover and Chase right now) and paid for the membership with it. No worries about renewal. And I got $45 off today when I checked out the first time.

Why are people still fighting over sams and costco? They are both garbage on price. You go there for the one off specialty things. Not meat, seafood, produce, ext. Maybe for some baked goods and unique snacks. Them actually good and far between specials. For general groceries, better off going to an actual grocery store.

I never been a big fan of clubs because i think weekly deals on supermarket are better and we tend to overbuy stuff that don't get consumed before they go bad, BUT i would get Sam's free membership for the discounted gas AND 20% off gift cards.

I've come to the conclusion that the people going for the food are clearly not couponers or people who know how to shop for groceries. Which is probably why most of the articles/threads praising Costco always mentions items like the rotisserie chicken, pizza, etc. Pre-cooked or heat & eat food are fine on occasion, but certainly not $60 membership worthy. Also, Out of 3 states I've been in, the gas prices are absolutely not worth the membership unless maybe the person never drives outside of a 5 mile radius. There's always other options just as cheap and even cheaper where I've been.

I bought the Costco membership for the first time last November to finally be able to join in on some of the super duper awesome deals that always seem to pop up for Black Friday and throughout the year....so far this 11 months, I've bought gas twice, the Cetaphil lotion/cream 2 pack that was on sale (turns out it was in-store only & a "new" sensitive skin version which is worse), croissants and we tried the s'mores snack. I will be going in store to get a refund on this much wasted year that included 4 trips, none of the free coupons w/new membership, extremely crowded stores, and no deals to be found. Oh, and the great prices on alcohol I've been hearing about the past 10 years, turns out, not offered in Texas. Guess what else, I knew it was Kirkland brand, but I didn't know that wasn't in addition to other brands (Sam's has good prices on real brands of alcohol).
Sorry...rant over.

This deal is slick , free membership for one year . Use it or throw it after first year.
Costco is old school. They sell outdated items mostly by throwing 2-3 yr warranties) ! People love to use them so they can return them without hassle ..
Appreciate the service and the easy return policy they have but the lines suck! Yesterday I had to wait half hr to return Bluetooth Headphones( apparently lot of junk products are sold at Costco now and the girl said everyone returning those skullcandies )! Waited another half in checkout line! Not to forget it's weekday afternoon ..imagine weekends how horrible it has to be !
It doesn't cost a lot to come up with scan and go Like sams but Costco loves to keep its customers wait in lines !,

Thanks for the update on the headphones, I was considering grabbing a few for teens in the family. Will keep that $$$ in my pocket.
