Always the people that need to justify their money spent in these listings.

I own a 65in LG OLED, and a 55in Samsung Q80R.... Both last year's top TVs for price and performance... And I still use the Hisense 65in I got last year for $240 and I have no issue with the 50in ONN I bought for $100 as well.

Budget 4K are pretty damn good from Septre, ONN and the like... People praise TCL and forget people talked trash about them as well... Same thing for Vizio.

Even more interesting is a lot of budget sets use 2nd tier Samsung VA panels that actually look better than the entry level LGs with poor contrast.

man... $228 for a full array led 4k 65" TV shipped free. Imagine seeing these deals 10 years ago, you'd hardly believe it.

Y'all talk about HDR/Dolby Vision like it actually matters for TVs in this price range. It's like how it has DTS surround on it's two 8 watt speakers, it doesn't make a difference.
It does if you actually watch content in Dolby Vision. There is a LOT of content (especially on Disney+) that supports Dolby Vision. Dolby Vision is especially helpful on lower-end TVs BECAUSE it can't reach those higher levels of brightness that more expensive sets can achieve.

CR even says so:
Quote :
The dynamic metadata in both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ can help a midlevel TV that doesn't have the brightness levels of a top-tier model adapt the content to the set's limitations. Using a process called "tone mapping," the metadata can guide the TV to make scene-by-scene or frame-by-frame adjustments according to brightness, color, and contrast variations in the content.
https://www.consumerreports.org/t...k-hdr-tvs/

Just because you don't find a personal benefit in Dolby Vision content unless you spend $2k on a an OLED panel, doesn't mean other people don't.

I definitely see a difference when content is adapted for Dolby Vision because of that dynamic adjustment to brightness, color and contrast.

Apple's brand new iPhones are certified to shoot Dolby Vision content as well which is no small feat; there will be much more Dolby Vision content down the line and it helps futureproof the TV a bit.

Certifying a TV for Dolby Vision costs money. Hisense thought it was worth it; Walmart didn't. That's all.

For sake of fairness in comparison the Hisense was also $20-30 more expensive depending on your local tax and or whether you use Red Card
Yes that's what I'm saying. That extra $21/$22 gets you Dolby Vision certification and more stand options apparently. laugh out loud

Anyone Try to register it for 2nd year warranty on onn site? They gave me a number to call and said they don't manufacture the TV and have no information on it.

I took the TLC 434 which surely beats this dog with worthless Dolbyvision and a screen so bright with limited blacks and contrast..... Apparently people want a spotlight cause they're certainly not getting a $750 tv for 250.

From what I can tell the only real difference between the two is roku vs Android tv, Onn only supports DTS and the TCL Dolby Digital plus. The TCL has HDMI Arc. Not sure about the ONN. My Sony Surround sound only supports Dolby Digital Plus and not DTS so I went with the TCL.
Wish I had known this before I ordered the Onn. I'm probably gonna return it because I can't cast a chrome tab to it. No Targets around me have the TCL so I guess I'll just have to wait for the next sale to pop up.

I did as well. I actually got both the Onn and the TCL and the TCL does seem better

An FYI for casting tabs to the TCL, it's not good at all. I just got the TCL. Audio is up to speed but video plays in slow motion. Would recommend getting an external chromecast if casting tabs is your main driver. The chipset just can't handle the incoming stream fast enough it looks like.

aside from casting tabs, everything else is great

Do we know this set doesn't do Dolby Vision?

The only test I see mentioned previously said to watch Jack Ryan on Amazon prime. The Tv I currently have does do Dolby Vision and doesn't say it's in Dolby Vision.

i had a tcl 4series 50" before, and got this today. the picture is better, the menu system is faster, and honestly its worth $228 all day long. I do NOT plan on entering it in to the TV Olympics. Smilie

Dolby vision would be a worthless "feature" for the quality of this panel. The blacks are dark gray and the brights are limited and bleed into the blacks and it also has limited contrast to make no question this is nothing more than a sales gimmick on $500 panels. The specs are in line with most any cheap entry level panel. The 65" panels with the specs that will meaningfully depict HDR and the like go for an MSRP of around a thousand.

It's a 65" TV for $230
At this price, it is great

That's the most reasonable review.

If we assume this tv has same cpu/gpu as android os hisense from best buy, which one would be smoother? Roku or Android?
