I'm an average DIY that's has built a few cabinets, an entertainment center and a bookcase using the Kreg pocket system. I started with this version of the Kreg jig. I quickly realized that larger projects go much faster with the K5. If you are considering a few projects, I would highly suggest the K5.

While there are cheaper pocket hole jigs available, I haven't seen any that integrate the clamp with the drill block so well. This makes it so quick and easy to move the jig from place to place which makes for incredibly efficient pocket hole drilling. I often prefer this set-up to my table top jigs. It's a difference of taking the drill and jig to the workpiece versus taking the workpiece to the jig.

K5 is $100 more, absolutely different price range.

Available from a number of sources for about $70. Some offer "sign up for emails" bonus offers like Overstock's 15% off offer, which would bring this down to under $60. Most offer free shipping.

Agreed. I added the K5 to my workshop about a year ago and haven't looked back.

Do I want the K5 master system, or just the regular k5? How about the k4 master or k4? I plan to build some farmhouse style desks and picnic table, inspired by some of the stuff on rogueengineer.

I totally agree, but my point is that if you are planning on doing more than 1 job or some larger jobs, then you may want to consider the K5. Just providing feedback from my experiences.

I bought the Kreg K5 Pocket-Hole Jig [amazon.com]. But you certainly want the clamp for making sure the surfaces are flush. So I would suggest the master unless you can get the clamp for cheaper.

Nice and that matches the BF price on AMz according to three camels. In 4 1 at Overstock! Repped.

I strongly agree. Trying to do a project with dozens of pockets with this would be pretty unpleasant.

Is there a sudden increase in home projects? Interestingly....this is the 3rd deal I've seen so far in 2 days for pocket hole drill sets.
