requires bios update for the upcoming Zen 3 chips

personally, that's a deal breaker for me, but that's a super personal choice, I just don't have luck with bios updates out of the box.

I think this is great price on a current gen mobo to run current gen hardware.
All boards currently on the market will.

It says it has a flash bios option. Just download the bios onto a formated USB, stick it in the right USB slot and that should be it. This should be common on most modern motherboards.

It has a USB bios flashback, you don't even need a CPU installed to update the bios and it even says in the description that it supports Zen 3 with an update. What are you complaining about?

Anyway this is a great price for a decent B550 board, repped OP

no for me for over $100 for a mobo, and a micro atx mobo at that. Bring back $50-75 dolla rmobos, $100-120 should be a top end ATX.

top end AM4 motherboards do not run $100-120. stick with an X470 if you want...

if you buy CPU as well, check MSI's website for promo. If you get R7 3700x, for example with this m-board, then you get $50 steam card. (expires on Oct 31st)
https://us.msi.com/Promotion/back...otherboard

It probably will offset the price difference of waiting for 5000 series CPU and possible drop in 3000 series chips if you value steam card as cash.

If you have microcenter near by AND plan to get CPU as well, then I do believe this board comes out to be cheaper due to $20 bundle discount they have. (and their CPU price is VERY competitive)

I plan on building a PC in about 4-5 months unless some crazy black Friday like deals go down in November in which case I will move that up. This is the MOBO I had in mind. Everyone says to buy all your parts at the same time, I'm kind of tempted to grab this one now. Bleh.

I do already have my case which is mATX

To me, it looks like the ASRock B550M PRO4 [newegg.com] for $104.99 is a better deal. It has 2x USB3.1 Gen 2 (1 type A and 1 type C) in the back, 2x M2 slots, and 6 SATA connectors. All other specs seem to be on par.

Another good option is the ASRock B550M/AC [newegg.com] for $108.99, which has a bundled WiFi-802.11ac M2 Key E module.

That works until you accidentally use the USB on a similar motherboard from the same brand. I killed one this way. Oops.
