I will say that for me the feature which was a "game changer" for running was having music on-board, but those who run with a phone anyway may find it irrelevant whether music is onboard a watch. I don't think any of these have music on-board.
Which part? EOL software, or putting it on sale? These are at least 3 years old and it's Amazon clearing them out not Garmin. Besides I'm not sure that garmin ever really declares something officially EOL, they just stop providing updates as they move to new products.

Can you provide any verifiable links for that? The latest series is the 6, which seems to be only one generation newer.

There are sites out there that compare the different generations of Fenix watches. Personally the extras on the 6 weren't anything I wanted anyway, so I was (and still am) perfectly happy with the 5X.
These are for active people. The 5X plus is sold out now which added the music but the 5X and 5 are still extremely good, tough, versatile watches.
If you hunt with dogs (or other long range activity) you can connect the watch and dog's gps collars. You can use it for tracking just about any activity and it has golf functionality.
It is not and never will be a 'smartwatch' like an Apple watch but if you are training, hiking, hunting, etc. at this price its a fantastic deal.
I also have not heard about EOL for the software, I'd like to see that link
