New Eufy Security Wired 2K Video Doorbell $139.99

This is the latest version with 5-day CVR supported. Revised chime and a more streamlined look as well. It was briefly on sale for $169.99 before, this is the lowest as far as I'm aware of. No homebase support at the moment if that matters to you.

Thanks for the heads up, bought this at $169 just had them price match the $139. So far its been a great camera, kinda hard to dial in motion settings but picture quality is impressive.

So all the storage is located on this device and it's outside? What's to stop someone from just stealing the doorbell cam? You'd have to get cloud backup at minimum since it doesn't support homebase right?

You gotta live in a shitty place if someone's going around ripping doorbells off. They wouldn't know if it was internal or cloud/external storage just by looking at it. Why risk getting caught?

I don't know, because thieves aren't the brightest bulbs in the kitchen drawer? Or because the digital doorbells are expensive, easy to remove and quickly stolen? As to if you live in a shitty place or not, why not ask any of these people who have had their digital doorbells stolen? Without them having a backup, they'd have no proof who did it. Thankfully, either their storage was on the inside of the house or cloud. If the thieves had stolen these Eufy doorbells, they'd been shit out of luck.

Just a heads up. I didn't realize how much of a nightmare of an install this is. Like it was so bad that I literally wanted to punch a hole through my wall with my fist. I can't stress this enough. I got seriously pissed off like I normally don't get.

Everything from the screws stripping super easy, having to uninstall the frame from my house but since the screws were stripped I literally could not remove the screws (that was an absolute nightmare, the screws they use are so small that using screw remover drill bits will not work), to the mounting frame bending (if it bends even 1mm, snapping the camera unit into the frame is super difficult), and last but not least.... finding out after installing everything that my home's doorbell transformer isn't powerful enough to power it. That's something they DO NOT tell you on the box. If you have a home built a few decades ago, your doorbell most likely does not have a transformer pumping enough volts to your existing doorbell wires. What's my problem? I can't locate the transformer in my house. I've read articles online to find where its located, and it seems like there's no standard place where it should exist. It's unbelievable. I've checked the garage, the electrical panel. I've taken the existing doorbell chime off my wall, it wasn't behind that. I've checked my basement which is mostly finished. Either I have to take most of the drop down ceiling out to see if its attached to a beam running across the ceiling in the basement (it doesn't seem to be near the hot water heater or central air). It could be in the attic too. I haven't figured out a way to pinpoint where it could be. I assumed it would be somewhere near the existing doorbell chime, but I literally can't find it anywhere. I'm now sort of stuck with this device as of now until I find the transformer and replace it. A new transformer will cost about $20. If an electrician finds the transformer and installs it for you, it will probably cost an extra $100+.

Do you have a multimeter? You better have one and know how to use one. That would be the first thing I'd do before buying this. Take a multimeter, and carefully test the wires in your existing doorbell. See if you get 16V of power. At this point I wish I got the wireless version, even knowing it's not going to record 24/7. I still don't know what to do at this point.

How come this model is not on eufys website?

Also can you store videos to a base?

You don't mention what material the exterior of your house is - wood, vinyl siding, brick? Did you drill a pilot hole before installing the screws? You may be able to back out the stripped screws with pliers or a vice grip by slowly backing them out and replacing them with new similar screws.

My transformer is in my basement, attached to a junction box on a floor joist - if by "wall panels" you are referring to a drop ceiling, you should be able to pop the ceiling tiles up one at a time, and use a step stool and a flashlight to see if you can locate the transformer.

Do the wires in your chime box give you a sense for which direction the wires run?

EDIT: I've also seen a couple YouTube videos where the transformers were mounted on (or inside) breaker box, or behind the wall chime location (wall plate had to be removed to reveal transformer in wall)

Was in home contruction years ago, also have owned a few homes. They have always been in the attic that I saw. My current home has it in the attic.

Mine is in my basement. Attic seems strange unless there is no basement or 2nd floor

raised ranch. If you have the transformer in the basement, where is the actual doorbell?
Meaning the part that does an actual doorbell installed function, the noise that tells you someone is announcing their presence?
