D2 steel on bearings. Tested at HRC 60 and actual D2 according to the second review.
First review pretty much pans the knife. Dull blade out of the box, lock stick when closing, poor lockup, gritty action, poor build quality, hot spots, poor ergos, awful centering and all screws are thread locked shut requiring heat to disassemble. Maybe he got a bad copy.
Second reviewer more or less liked the knife and had no trouble disassembling it. Referred to its style as "wonky" and said there was something about it he liked.
Sounds like there is a reason these knives are heavily discounted, but if the style lights your fire you could do a lot worse for $20 shipped. The inexpensive Chinese D2 steel on the market right now is a nice upgrade from budget steels like 8cr13Mov.
I bought this on the last deal, the knife was sharp out of the box and it's a great price for D2 steel but you get what you pay for. The contruction quality feels extremely cheap, especially the lock. It has no ergonomics to speak of so it doesn't feel comfortable to hold, it feels very bulky and awkward even in big hands.
I head good things about this from the last deal and I'm always looking to add a new piece to the collection, I'll probably end up getting this anyway but how can I be sure this is really D2?
I got this on the last deal when it was $16 in early Sept. I have to say this is the ugliest knife in my collection, but it works fine and I found the perfect use for it. This knife has become my dedicated tool for opening boxes from Amazon or packages from anyplace.

Ymmv on value, i consider them pretty cheapy knives.
Won't be buying from company anymore. Purchased 2 knives n 2 weeks later it went on sale; I emailed them to see if they could credit me, NO response. Poor customer service.
Got one in previous sale. Knife came sharp and looks good. Lock up was good. Canvas micarta handle and D2 steel makes this a pretty good deal. Deep carry pocket clip
Bought one on the last deal. This would make a great entry level EDC gift. Mine was sharp out of the box and smooth to open. I agree the design is a bit wonky. If you're a "knife head" and familiar with American made spyderco, benchmade, etc you will likely turn your nose up to this knife. But for someone that is not a collector/used to cheapo gas station knives, this is a very solid starter

I agree. I bought some on the last two S.D. deals. The blade is great. The micarta handle feels good in hand. The only issue is the handle/body shape is very odd and angular and a bit pointy at the edges. Is it a Benchmade? No but for $20, I feel it is well worth it.
Will they ship to new york? I know new york has restrictions on knives and pockets knives.
Any knife that has a blade under 4in can be shipped to new york, excluding switchblades. you're probably thinking of amazon, I have no idea why Amazon won't ship to NY.

Thanks. I have tried ordering from Amazon a while back. For some reason they won't allow it to be sold to new york.
IDK, seems more of a gamble than its worth, even at $20. Instead I offer an alternative with no experience or affiliation. Try ebay search for a Ganzo Firebird FH11 for a similar shape, or FH91 or FH21 for a recommended shape and you'll likely end up with a better D2 G10 knife for $5-$10 more.
My own collection of Chinese knives now collect dust or ride in the glove compartments of vehicles or comes with me if its a questionable adventure where it might be lost. For real EDC, I'm very happy with recommending save money for a USA knife, personally just ordered a Hogue Deka yesterday for rotation with PM2 and Griptilian.
I bought this same knife several months ago and it's been my EDC ever since. I've put this knife through the wringer with daily use & it's held up & performed like a champ! I own a lot of expensive & high end knives & this knife is an incredible value. Mine arrived a little dull for my tastes, so I gave it a razor sharp edge & it's held that edge to this day. I really like the micarta scales & the overall size of the knife. I've got big hands & it fits nicely as it's a large folder. The large thumb studs & blade bearings make opening very easy. The centering & lockup on my blade is perfect. I also bought one for my son last month when it was on sale for $16 & his is perfect also. Give this knife a shot, at $20 it's quite a bargain for D2 steel, bearings, & micarta scales.
