Some smart TVs run android just like phones, and can do about the same thing as a phone can. You can buy a 75" Samsung TV for much less than a new Samsung phone, and the tv does about 95% of what a phone does... Just less convenient to carry around lol.
I think the price difference is mainly because phones are way more ingrained into people's lives. Most people can barely set down their phone, or look up from them... it's almost like a new body part to some people, or an addiction... So they can charge almost any amount for them and people will pay it.
I bet if they did some price fixing, and all phone companies agreed to only sell smart phones for $3000 or more, people would still pay it. They'd come out with some crazy long payment plan and people would buy them.
And even crazier the how low the price is when you consider most $499 huge 75" tv's will ship across the country for free. Its surprising they can make money off them. I'd be curious to see how much one of these costs to make.
Ok I'm done rambling on, thanks for reading, and now you can finally mark my post unhelpful. 😂
I have a 49" 4 series and just upgraded to a 65" 6 series and the difference is insane.
Both are good tvs and I honestly love the 4 series for the past 2 years but seeing the 6 makes me not want to go back. There is much more ghosting on the 4 series, the colors are not nearly as vibrant, next to each other its night and day.
But in all seriousness $500 for a 75" tcl is a hell of a deal. Can't speak for the android version though as mine are both roku which have been great.

Have my eye on the 6 series but that is 1399....499 might be damn good enough. The 6 series will be better for new Xbox though as it is much better panel and also 120hz refresh. But damn 499 is tempting
oh wait though, this is the Android version and not roku

Is the roku version that much better in screen quality?
I have directv anyways so if its just for the service, then $499 would be no brainer... i dont know if that roku model is a whole different panel etc....
And does anyone own this model, and can comment on the quality... obviously not expecting $3k quality, but seeing if there are any obvious faults like ghosting or bad resolution/refresh for sports or whatever etc....

Same price at Walmart a few weeks ago. I have 4 series 43"currently I use as a monitor and extra tv. If series 6 is much improved maybe worthwhile to wait on a deal for it

4 series is basic. Nothing is going on for it.
6 series - quantum dot color, mini-LEDs backlight, 240 local dimming zones, Dolby Vision capable, 120hz native, 1440p 120hz capable, hdmi earc, VRR, ALLM, THX certified game mode, roku with voice remote control.

You forgot to mention it's 3X the price There is zero comparison. Might as well compare it to a $3600 OLED. Personally, 90% of people could care less about all that stuff. 99% of people care about what it costs.
