Thanks and sorry I was the one lol. I have a plex server and currently have a full 8tb and needed to upgrade. I just plug it into the back of my gaming pc and leave it on 247. Is there a better route to take than that?
It's fine lol. if you look back on past deals you'll see an endless ocean of "inb4 shuck" comments. It's kind of a tradition at this point. If you're just using it for additional storage, there's no reason to shuck it. people usually buy these in bulk to use in special enclosures, but if you're not doing that there's no real benefit aside from less clutter and negligible reduction in power usage (this comes with it's own "wall wart" power supply), but this doesn't really become a factor unless you're running several of them.

Ordered one. Thanks for posting. Rolling a nas with rpi 4 and consolidating a bunch of drives. Saving power over my t110.

This is the lowest the 14TB easystore has ever been. For all of you waiting for the $200 deal, enjoy the extra cash in your pocket and happy shucking!
Actually $180 was the lowest earlier this year from Best Buy just before the shutdown. Hit like at 1am and was sold out in an hour.

Can you guys really tell the difference between a 60 GB blu-ray remux vs a 6-10 GB HEVC reencode? Seems like a collosal waste of capacity.
You can easily tell if you've got an 80" 4K TV. The larger the screen/resolution, the easier it is to see the difference. 40" 4K? Probably. 27" 4K? You're hitting diminishing returns. Many people who run Plex servers are providing content for a more than just themselves, so the more storage prices decrease, the more we err on the side of fidelity.

Amazon may choose to in order to compete but they don't match other retailers upon request.
