SHR always uses one drive with the largest capacity for parity, so putting one 14TB in won't get you anything more than what the Synology has now. You will want to buy at least two 14TB drives. Replace one drive, wait for SHR to rebuild, then repeat with the other new drive. You will end up with 2TB more than current. If you were to replace all four 12TB drives, you would end up with 6TB more than current.
The golden question, what's inside?

Extended returns in effect if you're on the fence.

Purchases made October 13, 2020 through January 2, 2021 have an extended return period through January 16, 2021
These won't get lower. BB does this every year, they offer the BF pricing a few weeks ahead of BF and then again at BF. I buy their BF special drives every year and upgrade both my servers and sell off the drives from the year before. It's the exact same scenario every time. This year it's the 14TB. Last year was the 12TB, 10 before that and 8 before that.

anyone know what kind of read/write speeds this drive gets?

usb3 vs internal
my WD 14TB WD (EDFZ) Book did get these results. I would suspect it maybe similar. But these drives have a different model number

Great deal indeed. Now buy now or wait until after BF...
If you have the extra cash you could buy it now and keep it unopened, see if theres a better deal in next 2 months and return if so. That is far to the store also since its not marked as a used item.

Why do my PayPal orders get canceled? I only ordered on...
From my past experience, there is no explanation can be given by CS. The fraud detection system flagged your order and cancelled it automatically. or it can be out of stock if it's a local pick up. Most stores I see online have only 1-3 units available. Using a VPN can trigger the fraud detection to flag your order too.

They've done deals like this for years at this point. They should understand the demand by this point.
You should understand BestBuy doesn't control the manufacturing of these drives, and thus how many are shipped to stores

Does anyone know if this can be used with xbox one S or the new series x?
No reason why not. But why would you need a 14TB drive for Xbox?? You'll never fill it up with games. Do you plan to use the Xbox as media console and put media on the drive?

how much do you get for used drives? Esp after you've shucked them and they are no longer in external case. Where do you sell - ebay?

Given an entire year to prepare and a customer the size of Best Buy, they're going to get the drives that they want. Given that these drives are manufactured in Thailand, which has handled COVID infinitely better than the US, and we haven't heard about significant disruptions since probably May,... These are likely to be pretty plentiful.

Also, they do kind of control the manufacturing of these drives, given the size of their order.

Usually sell them locally. Sometimes I put them back in their shells and sometimes I sell as bare drives.

I have to say Slickdeals is the best because of the comments. So, so much useful information in the comments.

So the only real world difference between the white's inside these enclosures and the red/red plus is warranty?
Anyone who has had white label's in their Synology care to speak to their experience?

Can most likely be used on the current xbox one s, but most definitely not be used on the nextgen Xbox Series X/S coming out next month. T

he reason is the new xbox series x will used NVME storage drives which can transfer data well above 5000MB/s, these magnetic drives are lucky to get 200-250MB/s. Next gen games are going to be developed relying on fast storage for loading textures and having huge open worlds. They'll load textures and objects as you're moving through the map and relying less on super long hallways or loading screens.
