USB 2.0 (that deal) vs. USB 3.0 (this deal). Not the same.
What a stupid comment. Very few people have a Microcenter nearby. There is also the cost of gas for driving there and time wasted. Then there is the free covid-19 virus attached to the freebie.

Read speeds seem decent (120-140 Mb/s) but write speeds are meh (10-25 Mb/s) based on reviews. For the price, not too bad but if you need a cheap flash drive now or are okay with slower than normal write speeds, these should be fine.
Those are USB 2.0.

As you pointed out the USB 3.0 version pretty much has USB 2.0 throughput speeds. A good majority of cheap flash drives that are USB 3.0 really dont improve speeds over the 2.0 versions.

There are other cheap USB 3.0 flash drives that have better write speeds than this USB 3.0 flash drive (e.g. 40 Mb/s). Also, saying "really don't improve speeds over the 2.0 versions" isn't quite true, it's more like half true since there's a decent upgrade in read speed. I think write speeds are slightly better in larger capacity flash drives in USB 3.0 versus lower capacity as I got a 64GB/128GB flash drive that is also considered cheap and the write speeds were around 50 Mb/s.
Also, USB 3.0 read speeds are still pretty good so in case someone wants to buy a flash drive mostly for copying something to the flash drive only a few times but reading it numerous times (installing Windows for example). Definitely some benefit to be had here going with USB 3.0 in that case.
If they are just backing up stuff, maybe not a huge difference between the two since you may not read from the flash drive a lot. If you are transferring files between two computers, the read speed will help a bit.
Nothing wrong with USB 2.0 as it has its cases and for $3 per flash drive, that is decent but.. I felt it should have been at least mentioned for people to be aware of.
