You need to enable Developer Options first for the Developer Options menu to appear.Settings --> Device Preferences --> About. Scroll to the bottom and Select Build and select it 10 times to enable Developer Options. You should see a toast prompt. Go back one menu and developer options should be there now at bottom. You can turn off or change the Window transition, transition animation and animator duration scale under the Drawing category. Under Apps you can scroll down to the bottom and set Background process limit to "at most 4 processes". |

I just purchased the 55" tcl of this model. The Android based OS is a complete joke. Just trying to set it up with passwords for email and WiFi the controller lag over the letters was very frustrating. We stream tv in our household, the foxnow app took literally 2 minutes to load before I was watching live tv. I found my self trying to select options that were on the screen but the cursor wouldn't move yet because the page was still loading somewhat, then the cursor would just end up way off when it finally loaded. Basically it is a toad and very slow OS.
The tv itself has horrible viewing angles which isn't a complaint, I bought a tv for the price. What is a complaint is when streaming live tv I get a hiccup in the sound every few minutes and lag. I'm not sure if it is the WiFi card or a processing issue. It definitely is not our WiFi we have streamed via roku for years in our household. So I ended up hooking my roku box up to this tv just to make sure something wasn't getting transmitted correctly. Low and behold the roku box solved every lag and load issue. It worked great. So now I have a roku/Android tv lol.
I called tcl a person answered in just a few minutes which was nice. They tried some diagnostic stuff over the phone unsuccessfully. Basically said the android base market is new to tcl and the company is exploring other options besides roku. He didn't seem too shocked that my roku hooked up worked much better and fixed the problems of the built in android. Don't expect a technician to come out on a $200 tv instead you will lugging this thing back to the store.
This is all just my experience, on a tv that is the same model in the 55". Maybe you're experience will be wonderful but I doubt Android is going to be any better in any of the lower models. I wish I would of waited for a roku model

Personally I'd go with TCL out of the two. I have the 55" TCL and am very happy with it.
I did onn 43 and Tcl 43 tcl so much better better brightness and volume 100 times better
I got the onn, but I've had TCL in the past and picture is great especially for gaming. Onn is unknown, but apparently made by hisense? hmmm. Cancel the Onn and get the TCL?

I ordered the same one too, but I'm leaning more towards TCL
edit: mine was actually roku not android but IMHO that just makes this an even better deal
Rent a vehicle. Get a Uber XL. Have a friend help. It's really not that hard to think outside of the box.
