I've used mine to make PCBs for lighting circuits, relays, and more. So yes you can actually use these to make a PCB. Just search Google.

These machines aren't only for crafts. I've used them for designing aircraft modification and repairs. I can make the template on the machine and then stick it on the side of the aircraft to mark drill and cut locations. I've done the same things for cars and I've etched all my car windows with one of these. My wife bought it first but I ended up using it more once I learned what it could do.

Thanks so much! I was debating on this to replace my daughter's Explore Air and missed the last posting. It's a great deal and possibilities are endless. It appears to come with basic tools as well. Still debating on buying protection plan; anyone think that's worth the $34?

Is the protection plan for $34 for 3 years or $45 for 4 years worth it? How often do these things break down?

When you least expect it. I look at it as an option to upgrade in 2 1/2 years....

We bought this last week, then returned it and decided on the explorer air. Unless you're really into crafting, we didn't think the additional costs were worth it for us. We got the explorer air ultimate bundle with tools and materials for $30 less than just the machine here.

They are a solid company with good customer service. (When I bought a new computer and could not get my machine to pair with it, the CSR was ready to send me a new one. I refused because clearly it was a computer issue rather than a Cricut issue. It worked fine with my old computer.) There are people on my craft forums that are using equipment from MANY years ago. I suppose there is always a risk, but I wouldn't buy it.

I bought it for piece of mind. I've had excellent service with Walmart's protection plans in the past. If you make vinyl, just sell 9 pieces at $5 a piece to make back the difference
