I'm on a 15 year old plan and they said that I would have to switch plans to get the deal as-is.

They did offer a workaround to where I would buy the phone outright and they would put a $250 credit on my account towards the new phone.

I don't think they were even asking for a trade in...
Was this on the phone with cs or in store?

I only see my phone's trade in value as $43. No mention of the $250 discount. Is this normal?

T-Force via Facebook. I've gotten the best deals either via Facebook or Twitter. They've almost always waived any upgrade fees and shipping costs too.

I've given up on in-store and phone support.

I'm not a regular on the whole trade-in game. I'm on a One Plus plan. Does that mean it wouldn't qualify?

My current plan has unlimited hotspot and I can't afford to screw that up. That said, I've for a Pixel 3a that I'd be happy to trade in.

Also, I assume that the trade-in value I see during the process ($59 for my Pixel 3a) is what I get initially and then somehow I get the rest of the $250 in monthly credits. Is there anywhere you see that during the ordering process?
The Tmoble site doesn't mention One Plus.It just says "One" plan. I'm not sure what the difference is. Not sure about the other question.

I ordered a Pixel 4A 5G phone and plan to trade in my Google Pixel. However, I don't want the deal if they don't accept my pixel as a trade-in. The phone has no cracks and works great but I have no idea if it will show water damage. I have had it out in the rain at times and humid weather too. So, even though I can't recall any big water incident, it's hard to be sure. I looked up how to check for water damage. I took out the sim card and tried to look inside for the water damage red line. It is really hard to tell. I even took out a magnifying glass under a light. I do see a bit of red in there, but not sure. And, I won't know if they accept it till after I get the phone. If you go into a T-Mobile store, will they tell you on the spot if they will accept it? If that is the case, I think I may cancel my phone order and do it at a store,

Thoughts?
If you're concerned, purchase the phone in store and do your trade-in there. Once the store accepts your phone, you're locked into the promo. If the third-party accepting the phone takes issue with it, it's on the store and not you.

It really depends on the evaluator. They have the assessment checklist and I believe deep scratches are listed as making the phone unacceptable. That said, I had phones like that making me worry about the trade in so I went to a Tmo store to have a CSR pre-assess and make notations on the account. The guy ok'd my one phone that had really deep scratches that almost looked like hairline cracks on the screen. Glad I did the pre-assessment in store because I packed the trade in phones really well to send by mail then the evaluator sends these pics with my trade ins all jacked up and telling me I need to accept reduced value or cancel the trade in. Like WTF. But since I did the pre-eval and my account was notated that the phones were acceptable trade-ins, I was able to get the full trade in value after accepting the reduced trade in value and calling Tmo.

Just call before you go down to the retail store and ask for the person you spoke to. Pretty easy to figure out over the phone the CSR's vibe and disposition/willingness to do the pre-eval.
Unfortunately, that's not how it works.

If you trade in at the store, once your phone is accepted, you're locked into the promo. If you mail your phone in, you can be denied after-the-fact and have the promo removed. There's no such thing as a pre-evaluation.

If there is a scratch deep enough that you view it as a crack, that phone is absolutely getting rejected.

Did this deal yesterday for a Pixel 4a (5G) - Just Black - 128GB. This is what it cost at the end of the day.

Pixel 4a (5G) - Just Black - 128GB: $499.99
Taxes/Shipping: $48.82
Pixel 2 64GB Black Trade-in: ($250.00)
Total: $298.81

Feeling pretty good about the price considering I don't plan on switching (so bill credits are fine by me) and I keep my phone 3-4 years

Has anyone tried to add a new line, then suspended the line or cancel, and still got bill credits?
im thinking about buying a pixel 1 or 2 off ebay for about $55 then trade it in + add a new line for the free phone promo

Do I need to be on a specific rate plan to get this deal?
Yes, you will need to be on a Magenta, Essentials, Magenta Plus, ONE, Simple Choice, or Sprint Unlimited plan to qualify. Talk to one of our mobile experts to make sure you have the best plan for your needs.

You get the $9 as a bill credit once they receive the phone, and the remainder $241 split over 24 months.
