I would rather spend a little more and get latest chrome cast with google tv. Much better in terms of future software upgrades and security patches

Just got a new TV from Walmart - one of those 65inch Roku TVs... Still have to set it up. Also have external Roku Streaming+ stick or whatever... wondering if this would really be worth getting. I've heard smart TVs in general can be pretty slow

Does anyone know if this can play movies from a portable hard drive?

Does it have a USB port?

Fastest chipset on the market. Google, Chromecast, Netflix and Prime certified! Even has voice remote. You can even plug USB drives with a microUSB adapter!

I could have sworn this was a shill account that always pops up on this item...

As for their claims, this box only has 2GB of RAM, which is nowhere near as much as you'd need to reliabily decode 4K and run Android TV without background apps closing.

It'll work fine if you don't switch between streaming services like you're changing channels, but expect a delay otherwise.

Roku based TVs are pretty quick and user friendly, but definitely not meant for power users. You might be fine with just the TV.

Be sure to turn on "fast tv start" within the settings and you can fire up Netflix or Hulu from the remote in about the same amount of time that it takes to turn the TV on.

Not to mention with the latest chromecast with Google TV you're also getting upgraded AndroidTV OS and a Netflix discount if you go with the package: https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/t/14401313
