Welcome OP, and great first post! One thing you will want to add is the live date into the title such as **LIVE 11/23**. Otherwise people who try to find the deal today (without reading your full post Smilie ) will thumbs down.

Good find and good luck!

Love how Microsoft only gives you 8gb of soldered ram on a $1600 machine.

I was thinking about getting Mac Pro 13 (2020) or Surface Book 3.

I wanted a laptop that can function as a tablet for my business.
I was surprise that Mac Pro doesn't have a touch screen.
My main reason for picking Surface was tablet like function.
I happy with 8 GB ram for portable functionality.

I have the original surface book with 8GB ram and it pisses me off constantly that I can't upgrade it. It's so nice otherwise.

Apple is no better. The $1500 MBP only has 8GB soldered RAM. It does have 512GB SSD, but it doesn't have tablet mode or pen/touch capability, so the cost performance is roughly comparable.

I feel like the Macbook Air for $900 is a much better deal, with much faster performance and battery life.

FYI the i5 version (this one posted), does NOT comes with a dedicated GPU. It's really not a good deal anymore if you don't have the GPU. I wouldn't buy the surface book line if there isn't a GPU.

Globalize, thanks. I didn't know that from what I saw on Microsoft website. That sucks.
Tough choice.
This or new MacBook Air with M1 at Costco???
I think I'm still going to go with Surface Book 3 for my IT consulting. I wish they had touch screens on MacBooks.

I run the latest MacOS via Vmware on my Surface Pro 4 with i7 6thGen 8 GB of RAM, and iris graphics. Runs great. Also have Bluestacks for Android OS installed. So I got the best of all worlds, didnt install Linux yet. Havent needed it yet. I would go with the Surface book, just out of my price range, will wait til I can get one refurb for around 600 to 700 bucks.

Do they still make the Special Edition AMD version with better integrated graphics. The iris graphics are better than intels old integrated graphics. I am able to run GTA at 720p around 30 fps with an Surface Pro 4 i7 with iris. Im I sure the latest gpu can at least hit 1080p 50+ fps. Just depends on what you need it for.

Sure, just as soon as the Macbook Air adds discrete graphics and a touchscreen display that you can separate and use separately as a tablet and a sensitive digital pen for drawing, you'll be right!
