I've had this all year and I love it. It is very quiet. Wish it had a bit more juice but that's alright. Nowadays, even just later in the year, it seems quiet compressors like this are way more common tho. like lowes has their own now.

I was considering getting this and the CENTRAL PNEUMATIC
16/18 Gauge 3-in-1 Air Nailer/Stapler but not sure if it's a good nailer combo. Do you use any central nailers?

Yes, the Lowe's model looks very similar. The differences are as follows: Lowe's model has less CFM - Less PSI - Steel vs Aluminum tank - One coupler vs Two - Weighs more than the Fortress - Costs $159 vs $129 for the HF Fortress model.

Nice price on the harbor freight, it's suppose to be super quiet. Does anyone have one? Any long term reviews? Our oil-lube compressor from the 90's is still running fine

I got this for that price about a year ago.
I only mostly it to inflate car tires, seat and inflate MTB tubeless tires, inflate balls, dust-clean electronics etc, but it works great for my purposes and it is indeed pretty quiet.

Not totally silent mind you: it is not for you to work in the middle of the night with it, but you can hold a casual conversation over it. Mentioning because often people build up irrational expectations over "silence".

first review, the guy had it for 3 weeks. .. most reviews are unsure about long term reliability..

apparently, some replacement parts ( piston / head gasket) are available.

found one review :
Fortress leaking after only 0ne year
Purchased 3-5-2019. Only used it a few times and was happy. The other day the system built up pressure to 135 psi then dropped back to 90 psi. System tried to turn back on and it cut out. Had to wait for the motor to cool down. Contacted product support and they tried to help but did not know what to do. Finally customer support told be to take the compressor to a repair shop. So now I am looking for more reliable brand. No more Harbor Freight. I told years ago not to buy anything from Sears with a motor. Look at where they are today...

He might have been referring to me?

For what it's worth, I love mine, but it is a harbor freight thing. Back early this year if you wanted a silent compressor it was either that or california air. If i was buying one today, I would go for whatever one has the best warranty or support, which is why I mentioend lowes.

However, I am happy with mine.

I have no specific experience with that nailer. I mostly use mine with a Husky brand 2 in 1 brad and stapler. I'm quite confident it could push a 16 gauge. Your nailer should have cfm requirements on it, or something like that, and if the hf compressor beats the requirements it should be great.

I think it's very quiet, as far as compressors go. You could talk to someone in a normal speaking volume right next to it. That's why I wanted a stealth compressor in general, because I hate awful loud noises like a normal compressor.

My favorite for a super-quiet SMALL compressor is the little Senco. You can barely hear it running and it's lightweight. But it's intended for small tasks only, like brad/finish nailers. It could fill up bike tires and small car tires I suppose. Not the same category as this. But something to consider if you are just looking for a small quiet compressor. I think there are some other brands now that have similar small quiet compressors (I think there is a Makita). But as with any of these tool deals, it's important to pick the right tool for the type of job. Many times bad reviews (too slow, too heavy, too loud) are because someone picked something not well-suited for their need.

Just picked up this compressor yesterday. I'm really impressed. It's very very quiet. especially compared to the McGraw 8 gallon compressor I had. I returned the McGraw 8 gallon. It seemed to have random trouble starting the motor but when it did start I almost always needed hearing protection if near by.

Got one the day before Thanksgiving. Impressive little compressor compared to the cheap one it replaced. The old compressor was loud enough to be heard all the way from the basement.
