It's cheap but it's only 1100mah, normal ones are 2400mah at 1.5$ each

at less than $0.45 per battery I'll give it a try for my small solar lights

Don't know about these particular ones, but I have many different EBL batteries and chargers and they seen pretty ok to me. Pretty reliable brand imo. And in this case - the price is right.
Also just notice these are Ni-CD, and not typical NI-MH. NI-CD are usually 600mAh, these are 1100. Normal NI-MH are typically 2400. For me NI-CD are useful because they tolerate larger temperature amplitudes. these are rated -20C to +60C. making them perfect fit outdoor use. like in patio/walkway solar lamps or Christmas decorations
one last thing for these - you'll need charger that supports Ni-CD. your regular charger (like the one ppl bought on the popular envelope deals here) won't work with these

The Amazon description is as follows:

EBL AA Rechargeable Batteries for Solar Lights Replacement, 1100mAh High Performance Ni-CD Battery(Pack of 20)

As others will remind you, not for typical electronic rechargeable uses.

Yeah well worth it if you understand this is for low usage like solar lights etc

Particularly for solar lights if you think about it. Nicads love to go dead over and over, and have thousands of cycles. NI-MH is what, 500 dead cycles?

I wonder how well this would work for automatic blinds? I typically have htem last about a year - but do I have to recharge at a year becuse of the discharge rate, or because of the use? If the former, I'm going to recharge anyway, so I don't care about the mah ... hmmm....

automatic blinds use a lot more current than solar (walkway) lights. If you read the comments above, this battery will self discharge many times over, but the upside is, it will be able to recharge and discharge MANY more times than Ni-MH. It's pretty much a give and take sort of thing between the two battery chemistries.

i'd look for Ni-MH for your case Smilie

Thanks for that. Also to add NiCD batteries have higher voltage than NiMH. Which means they are better for high tech equipment that requires more voltage like for an RC car
