Just to answer some common questions I keep seeing:
- Each card needs to be purchased as a separate Target transaction in order to get the Target card bonus for each Apple card.
- You can use the same Target account, no need to make separate accounts (unless you are trying to circumvent the new limit that seems to have been added today).
- You will get an order confirmation email immediately.
- Apple cards will arrive via email several hours to a day later. The email has a link to Target's fulfillment site which will then take you to the actual gift card code. From there you can either manually copy/paste the code or simply click the link and it should open up the proper program on your computer or phone in order to load the card to your Apple account.
- You will receive another email at some point that informs you that the email with the Apple gift card was sent. This email doesn't have any value.
- Target bonus cards will arrive a day or so later via email. I've found that they generally arrive a few hours after you receive the email I mentioned in the previous point above. Sometimes the cards will already be loaded into your Target wallet in the Target app, but the majority of mine have not been preloaded. The email will contain a link that will load them into your Target account. The Target app also has a button that will allow you to combine all the cards into a single balance for easier use.
- The Apple gift cards will trigger the bonus offers on the Apple site (for instance, buy an Apple TV with the Apple gift cards you bought from Target and Apple will send you a $50 Apple gift card).
- You can use the Target gift cards to buy other items at Target that have a gift card bonus offer, but you can't use them to actually buy more gift cards. For instance, you can buy two packs of laundry detergent which has a $5 Target gift card bonus offer and you'll get the $5 bonus gift card, but you can't use the Target gift cards to buy more Apple gift cards.
- You can load up to $2000 in total balance to your Apple account. Additionally you are only allowed to load $2000 total per day. So even if you buy something using your Apple balance you'll still need to wait a day before you can load more gift cards into your balance.
- You can apply up to 8 gift card codes during checkout at Apple.

Apparently, Best Buy will offer the same deal (BB GC) during BF.

Edit: some idiots have been replying to me on how they like this deal better than BB's since GC is more useful to them. I couldn't care less about your situation. I'm just letting people know about BB's deal.

Assuming you're treating the $20 like cash, you're getting 16.67% off, not 20%.

20% would be if they were only charging you $80 for a $100 gift card. You're paying $100 for $120.

Edit: Unless you're including the Red Card 5% off, in which case it's more like 21%

Where did you get that info from Chase? The only info I see doesn't mention that limit:

Extended Warranty Protection
Extended Warranty Protection extends the time period of warranty coverage by one (1) additional year on original eligible warranties of three (3) years or less. Coverage is limited to the original
price of the purchased item (as shown on Your itemized sales receipt), less shipping and handling fees, up to a maximum of
ten thousand ($10,000.00) dollars per claim and a maximum of fifty thousand ($50,000.00) dollars per Account. The benefit applies to purchases made both inside and outside the U.S. The eligible
item must have a valid original manufacturer's U.S. repair warranty of three (3) years or less, a store-purchased dealer warranty, or an assembler warranty. Eligible items given as gifts can also be covered.
You are eligible for this benefit when Your name is embossed
on an eligible card issued in the United States, and You charge
all or a portion of the cost of an eligible item to Your credit card Account and/or rewards programs associated with Your Account.
Which Chase card was this? I think new Flex MC has this built in.

Got the two that I ordered this morning: one using Red Card debit and one using Disco to get the 5% target.com cashback. The Target and Apple system must be totally swamped.

I'll add data point since no one seems to make it clear for in store purchases.

1) It works. There's actually a little discrete sign that advertises the offer next to the gift card area.

2) Call your bank first. I used Citi, and still got an alert about fraud. Check your phone as you do it.

3) Don't ask the Target reps for info. They will tell you (accurately) that the limit is $1000 in GC purchases/day. Thing is that you aren't purchasing $1000 in one shot, so there is nothing in the system preventing you from doing it... just nosy Target CSR's.

4) You scan the card, you click pay, and then you get an alert that you get a $20 GC! You grab an empty card above the register and scan it. You pay and you are good to go.

Yeah, the CSRs were on my ass about my limit ($1000) and they asked me what i planned to use the cards for to prevent fraud.

I had a few issues which had them come over too much, i was getting them upset.

Tip 1, cover the barcode at the top. The system scans the large wide barcode.

Tip 2, don't double scan. You'll need the CSR to fix it.

Tip 3, don't try to remove an item. I thought i did something wrong by scanning the empty target GC since it didn't show a value on screen. So i tried to remove it - no go. You are doing correct by scanning the card. All 10 of my $20 GCs added to my account AOK.

I placed 15 orders (12 with redcard and 3 with discover) on 11/22 between 10:45 AM and 12:15 PM PST.

As of now (9:20 AM PST) I received all 15 Apple gift cards and 14 Target gift cards. Waiting for the remaining 1 target gift card.

Helpful hints.

If doing in store, take $100 apple gift cards to customer service. Make sure each gift card is sealed and intact on back. It will be safer and faster. They will be glad you aren't holding up regular line. Plus, they know what they are doing.

***keep in mind that it's ONE $20 target gift card per order/transaction. So DO NOT let them ring up one or more at same time. They will have to cancel order and Apple gift cards will become dead. If this happens, be sure to NOT use same Apple gift cards again. Get new ones.

Double check each receipt for Apple activation and make sure it matches actual Apple gift card numbers on back. This will help if there is fraud.
I did 15 separate orders. $1500. They put 5 $20 target credits on 1 card for me. So $100 on each target gift card. Have 3 $100 target gift cards. Ask for them to check balance and print off target gift card balance receipt. If you leave counter without checking, it could be a problem if there is a problem.

Good luck.
