Just to answer some common questions I keep seeing:
- Each card needs to be purchased as a separate Target transaction in order to get the Target card bonus for each Apple card.
- You can use the same Target account, no need to make separate accounts (unless you are trying to circumvent the new limit that seems to have been added today).
- You will get an order confirmation email immediately.
- Apple cards will arrive via email several hours to a day later. The email has a link to Target's fulfillment site which will then take you to the actual gift card code. From there you can either manually copy/paste the code or simply click the link and it should open up the proper program on your computer or phone in order to load the card to your Apple account.
- You will receive another email at some point that informs you that the email with the Apple gift card was sent. This email doesn't have any value.
- Target bonus cards will arrive a day or so later via email. I've found that they generally arrive a few hours after you receive the email I mentioned in the previous point above. Sometimes the cards will already be loaded into your Target wallet in the Target app, but the majority of mine have not been preloaded. The email will contain a link that will load them into your Target account. The Target app also has a button that will allow you to combine all the cards into a single balance for easier use.
- The Apple gift cards will trigger the bonus offers on the Apple site (for instance, buy an Apple TV with the Apple gift cards you bought from Target and Apple will send you a $50 Apple gift card).
- You can use the Target gift cards to buy other items at Target that have a gift card bonus offer, but you can't use them to actually buy more gift cards. For instance, you can buy two packs of laundry detergent which has a $5 Target gift card bonus offer and you'll get the $5 bonus gift card, but you can't use the Target gift cards to buy more Apple gift cards.
- You can load up to $2000 in total balance to your Apple account. Additionally you are only allowed to load $2000 total per day. So even if you buy something using your Apple balance you'll still need to wait a day before you can load more gift cards into your balance.
- You can apply up to 8 gift card codes during checkout at Apple.
Apparently, Best Buy will offer the same deal (BB GC) during BF.
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/blac...8908893088

Edit: some idiots have been replying to me on how they like this deal better than BB's since GC is more useful to them. I couldn't care less about your situation. I'm just letting people know about BB's deal.
Assuming you're treating the $20 like cash, you're getting 16.67% off, not 20%.

20% would be if they were only charging you $80 for a $100 gift card. You're paying $100 for $120.

Edit: Unless you're including the Red Card 5% off, in which case it's more like 21%

I already submitted a case to both Apple and Target for fraudulent activity. They are both aware are investigating it further. I bought 12 $100 Apple Gift Cards and only opened 1 $100 Apple Gift Card only to find out that it's already redeemed. I didn't open the rest of them in hopes that the Target store will refund me; unfortunately, they only refunded me the one that was open.

They looked at all my "sealed" Apple Gift Cards and they said that they look tampered with, and I told them where in the store I got them from. They pulled all Apple Gift Cards from that wall and checked a few and said they also look tampered with.

I'll be following up with Apple and Target with both of my cases. What a real pain. Worst experience ever!
This just happened to me yesterday. By the time I got home, all of my 7 $100 cards got liquidated to a scammer. Apple confirms they are able to see that it was activated on fradulent Apple ID's because she mentioned the Apple ID's were like "[email protected]". Because $600 of my money was ALREADY spent by scammers, Apple can't refund me. Absolute shitshow I'm dealing with right now.

This just happened to me and 2 other SD'ers. I have no idea what we are supposed to do. Apple told me to go to Target. Target told me to go to Apple. I also got in touch with their gift card security (Target corporate) and they created a case number for this one. They say they will investigate but not sure what they are going to be able to find given the nature of how gray-area this scam has been. I'm waiting for the transactions to post so I can dispute it with Chase. I also filed a police report with the East Hanover NJ police dept. I suggest you do the same.
If you used a Target MasterCard redcard can you dispute those charges. I'm curious I never had with that card but would be nice to know.

I used my Chase Freedom Unlimited for this transaction - Ultimately I'll need to open up a dispute with them but I'm scared that they won't be able to help given the nature of this scam. On paper, it's as bad as.. "customer goes to store to buy gift card, goes home, and finds out it's already been emptied". I feel like my case is hard to prove and thus, I don't want to be out $700.. :/

I'm currently waiting for the transaction to post on my Freedom Unlimited statement so that I can dispute it with Chase.

I'm sure the scammers were ready for this knowing this deal was coming and knew lots would be purchased. This is so pathetic. Call your local news and get this out on the air. If enough people contact them about this they will be exposed.

If I were you, I'd do all the followings:
1. Dispute
2. Report this to Target executive office
3. Report this to Apple executive office
4. Report this to State attorney general

I'm curious if you can dispute a target redcard credit card not debit.

Like #2 & 3 are going to give a crap. #4 will tell you to get in line as there are more serious frauds and crimes going on.

Thanks - I appreciate the advice. I'll work on #4 tomorrow as that's something I didnt think of. Apple basically told me "I see that they were activated on fraudulent accounts, but we can't get that money back for you as it's already been redeemed"...

What you said is sad, but true. Apple & Target just shrug their shoulders at me and expect me to turn around and walk away with a $700 loss. #4 will be a stretch but I'll do anything I can in hopes that this will be resolved one day.

My best bet is #1, but I'm nervous on how Chase will view all of this and whether they will cover it or not. The nature of the scam is so shitty & in "a gray area" which makes me concerned.

It depends, executive office usually works hard to provide a better resolution or at least something more reasonable.

You said they were sealed so how were they able to tell cards were tampered with while you couldn't? Not blaming you, but just want to know since I buy gift cards (other brands) often.
They didn't say exactly, but they were looking at the sticker that seals the gift card inside when they said "it" looked tampered with.

After a more careful inspection, I am noticing a faded area under the area when the "sealing sticker" is peeled off. It looks like something else was actually sealing the package rather than the "sealing sticker" that was there.

I feel Chase will help. You did not receive what you paid for. That is a valid reason to dispute your card. You should also send emails to Executives of Target and Apple. I did send email to Delta and Lowes CEO and Executives. Both time the issue was taken care of quickly.
