Stores have stock but the pick up windows are very limited. I got a pick up time by signing up early, like go on Apple's website and checkout in the morning at 7am to get a pickup window that day.
what's the advantage of doing a store pick up?

hmm. ok will give it a try but honestly i see two things here - i saw a page where i can make a reservation

but then each time i went to checkout - iphone 12 pro max - i can't find any stock for pick up - it just says unavailable.

i dont want to make an appt to go there and then find out they dont have stock

so unsure if they truly dont have stock or they did that to prevent crowds.
what is the advantage of a store pick up?

why? You already lost the benefit of not paying a lower amount in taxes with an immediate trade in.

I just did this hoping for the best. Buying the m1 air and figured this would "save" me $200.probably just sell the target gift cards if they arent automatically added to my target account
I've gotten 9 of the 11 I ordered so far. No Target GCs yet tho.

And it took you how long to get the Target GCs after you got Apple GCs?
My first order was placed on 11/27 at 7:31 AM and I received my final Target gift card on 11/28 at 6:31 PM.

I bought $2,800 worth of gift cards. I've received most of the Apple GCs from my purchases earlier in the day, but only a few of the Target ones. My order for the 8th GC got canceled. I tried chatting and they told me to call. First rep had no idea what was going on - first said I couldn't make a "bulk" purchase (i.e., I was getting too many even though there's no limit), then said it was a system thing, and told me to try tomorrow, but I asked for a supervisor and was transferred to a Target GC Specialist who told me:

1. There is no limit on the number of GCs I could order online, but sometimes the system flags too many back-to-back purchases so if that happens, to just give it half an hour and try again.

2. All the Apple GCs and Target GCs should be sent within 48 hours. Said there are delays on Apple's end since they're supplying the GC #s.

3. The system is being overworked since this promotion is so popular. Said this is probably the best promotion they've had in the history of Target and they've literally gotten millions of orders.

3. The promotion is ending TONIGHT so if I tried to try again tomorrow I would've been screwed. Target runs on Central Time, but she said she's seen some promotions end Pacific Time too. Soo.. if anyone is still contemplating it, get on it.

4. I was offered an additional Target GC credit for the inconvenience. She said they have a list of people and they'd determine how much they're giving people and send it out next week.

I maxed out the Chase Freedom 5% PayPal bonus, two Citi CC 5% back up to $500 offers (basically $25 back on $500), and used my RedCard on the rest. Actually used two Target accounts (my husband has one too), but bought 21 GCs on mine, so I guess that 20 order limit within 24 hours is not a thing?
You were persistent and really got the info on this. Pretty incredible that this is one of the largest promotions they have ever done. I was thinking about this tonight went to my local store and they had no Apple Gift cards at $100. So I did everything online. If I could do this in store I could have used Chase points to credit the transaction. Target codes as grocery.

I'm not sure I follow - i basically wanted to do it in store to avoid waiting for some third party to approve trade in

8 hrs now. still zero cards. 0 apple. 0 target. hope nothing cancelled..
I ordered 12 today. While ordering the 9th got canceled but I think it was because my credit card flagged it. I started using another credit card for the remaining 3. I opened the bank app for the first credit card and sure enough it had flagged the transactions and asked if I approve them which I did.

I've received 1 apple gc so far and funny enough it was from the last order I placed. Orders were placed between 2pm and 3pm central time

I saw your response in the thread and here is my question:

a) I will have to buy the phone online as I will be paying with an Apple account balance (one can't do it at the store, unfortunately).

b) If I pay for it online, how is the trade in handled? Is it a separate transaction or will be it be part of initial iphone 12 pro max order?

c) If I buy the phone online, will I be able to do the trade in the store?

d) If I choose to do the trade via mail, how will I get the $210 trade in value assuming the following scenario:

Total price: $1,306
Paid via account balance: $1200
Remaining paid via credit card: $106

Trade in value is $210.
Will $210 go entirely on my card? Or entirely via Apple gift card? Or a combination?

Thanks in advance
You could just buy the phone completely online, and then pick up in store, and while you're there to pick up your phone, you can do your trade in there. Your trade in will be credited back either to your credit card, debit card or another Apple store GC if you're so inclined. If you do ship to home, Apple will send you a trade in box to mail back your trade in, and then the "credit" will go on an Apple store GC but you can chat and reqeust the trade in to be go back to your credit card or debit card.

Not sure if anyone is in a similar situation but what if my balance is $2000 but the item i want to buy is $2400.

Can I apply my balance and then under the apply 8 gift card section - apply four individual codes?

anyone know if that will work?
Mentioned on the Wiki, scenario #2

isn't there actually an advantage and let's forget how it is being paid? For instance, for a phone that costs $1200 with a trade in of $300, wouldn't the tax be computed on $900 and not $1200?
