Heard someone's Apple ID was shut down and balance forfeited because of redeeming extra Apple gift card from target. Anyone in the same situation?

I would think this would prevent that:

Unordered Merchandise
Whether or not the Rule is involved, in any approval or other sale you must obtain the customer's prior express agreement to receive the merchandise. Otherwise the merchandise may be treated as unordered merchandise. It is unlawful to:

Send any merchandise by any means without the express request of the recipient (unless the merchandise is clearly identified as a gift, free sample, or the like); or,
Try to obtain payment for or the return of the unordered merchandise.

Merchants who ship unordered merchandise with knowledge that it is unlawful to do so can be subject to civil penalties of up to $42,530 per violation. Moreover, customers who receive unordered merchandise are legally entitled to treat the merchandise as a gift.

And here's an article specifically regarding duplicate deliveries from Target: https://consumerist.com/2016/11/2...n-keep-it/

This might fall under the category of good-to-know.

Subtle aside that I discovered (after purchase of deal and then of iPhone 12 pro max 512) for those with ATT, and an iphone 6s that will get you $350 credit over 30 months.

You can't pay for phone in full from Apple with gc AND do $350 trade-in with ATT. It's one or the other.
This is an important detail when assessing this deal. If someone knows how to do both, please let me know!!!

When buying the iPhone 12 Pro Max 512G (top price phone), aside from time invested in buying gc, it's basically a wash when buying from Apple or ATT. (Other issues aside, such as locked/unlocked).

When buying a lower priced phone, the pendulum swings clearly to buying from and trading in with ATT (assuming the $350 trade-in).

However, in situations where no trade-ins or "good" trade-in value are available, the Apple gc deal still rocks.

No way, if that were true we'd see a bunch more posts about that in this thread.

A friend offered to use his employee discount to sponsor my purchase. Unfortunately, the Apple ID workaround to the 8 card limit does not work for such purchases
