Just found out it does not have HDMI 2.1 and no VRR. Marriage saved 😅
I bet you can find a new wife with one of these puppies. IMO more effective than a convertible!
Wow I made a silly assumption that it did because it appeared to be a flagship model... What is with these tv companies thinking they can push out new "high-end" TVs that are effectively obsolete on day 1 of purchase 😓

I am fairly certain this is the 2019 flagship. Not sure if Sony even upgraded this year at all. It's a nice price, but I would want everything to be checked off if I am going to be paying this price. If this goes sub $2k during BF, I d be in trouble...

Sony did make this year's model, the a8h which only comes in 55" & 65", not 77". And from my understanding looks like this A9G probably has slightly better picture quality than the LG CX and is better for movie/content viewing while the LG CX should be better for gaming.

Even the A8H doesn't have HDMI 2.1. They slacked this year.

Apparently Master series is only updated every two years so it's due in 2021 for update.

Why would the lack of those features make this TV obsolete? Unless you game on it, it will not make one bit of difference for years to come.
Do we expect that this TV (or the LG CX 77") will go cheaper on Black Friday anywhere?
I'm looking for a 77" OLED for my media room. I'm leaning towards the Sony as I'm not really a gamer. I want to use this set for movies and sports, so it sounds like the Sony would be a better pick than the CX.
The interesting thing is when I first started doing research on 77" OLED (back in Sept), the LG was about $500 cheaper than the Sony. Now the Sony is about $200 cheaper. It seems like LG is reluctant to price drop because they know they have the customer base that requires HDMI 2.1.
