Hello fellow Loungers!
Since there's interest to continue a long standing tradition of the SD Lounge Secret Santa, and nobody else is crazy enough to run it this year, I decided to step up and run things. I hope I do as good a job as others have done in the past!
If you're interested in participating, please post in this thread.
Since I know this is getting off the ground late, I'll keep signups open until 11/30. That gives you all two weeks to sign up, get your questionnaires filled out, etc. Don't delay so I can get names assigned.
The rules:
1. You must have been a SD member for at least 6 months with at least 1000 posts or 100 reps to participate. Sorry n00bs.
2. If you participate, you must send a gift to your assigned person. Don't be that guy that ruins the fun for the rest!
3. Please fill out your questionnaire as completely as possible! Being cryptic just makes it harder for your SS to shop for you.
4. There will be a $25 limit for purchases, plus any applicable shipping charges. We're slickdealers - we know how to find some bargains. Use the site to your advantage!
5. Please ship your gifts no later than December 15 to hopefully ensure Christmas delivery. I realize that's a tight window to shop, but we can do it!
6. When you ship, please use a service that has tracking (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc), and please PM me the tracking number after you've shipped you gift. If you send items directly from a vendor such as Amazon, that's fine, just again please PM me tracking numbers.
7. After you have signed up, please PM me the address where you want your gifts shipped.
8. Wrapping your gifts to your SS is optional.
9. These are different times this year. Remember to shop and ship as safely as possible!
10. Please PM me when you have received your gifts so I can ensure everyone got theirs!
11. If you will be unable to ship by Dec 15, please PM me as soon as possible.

I really hope everyone gets their gifts by Christmas.
Yeah I have never seen anything like this at our local PO either. Normally when I go there or drive by the parking lot is empty.. when I dropped off this package on the 9th.. the lot was full and I had to wait for a parking spot.
Maybe people are trying to make up that they can't be there in person by sending stuff.
I think that's exactly what it is. We planned on mailing some gifts to my husband's grandparents who live an hour away (we normally go to there for Christmas) but we decided to drive up and leave them on their porch instead, maybe talk to them at a distance or just wave from the car, lol.
They live ~15 minutes from Santa Claus, Indiana which has a huge drive through light display so we're going to drop off gifts and then go drive through the light display.

I hadn't put my big Christmas tree up in years since it's just me here but this year I thought it might help. I plug it in every morning and sit across from it while I work. I guess it helps a bit.
Even with as much as I love my dogs I find myself short tempered with them lately so I know things are wearing on me.
I'm committed to staying as isolated as possible and staying safe and know it will eventually pass.
Here, maybe some Christmas pics will help... (it was a slickdeal.. Walmart price mistake for $33 lol)

Awe! Love your tree! It's beautiful And what a slick deal that was!
The first Christmas without my grandma was tough. She passed 3 days after Christmas in 2014, so we had almost a year to grieve, but it still wasn't the same.
I really hope everyone gets their gifts by Christmas.
I have zero Christmas spirit this year. The only Christmas anything in our house are the presents my daughter has wrapped. I haven't wrapped the first thing. I'm running my legs off trying to get clients back in their houses and there is still so much debris piled up from the storms. You literally cannot go anywhere and not see it. Four months later and it's still a complete disaster area.
We are all Lounge old-timers and have seen a bunch of stuff happen in here over the years, but nothing quite as crazy as the past 12 months. I am so very grateful to have met all of you in our little online corner of the world! Even if my SS gift never arrives, I am still really happy to have participated in SS because it is a little slice of normal that I will never take for granted ever again
Merry Christmas, Loungers

While I feel badly that it likely won't make it to my SS recipient in time... I understand the issues they are having.

I was thinking of PMing my SS with the tracking number so they can keep an eye in it, too. Thoughts? Or should I hold off a few days?
I HAVE A PACKAGE!!
Good call

If it looks like your gift won't arrive by Christmas, I will let the recipient know. Let me be the Scrooge this year.
DH's friend's mom is a long time postal carrier here in CO. She said recently that her post office is only 60% staffed currently due to people that have Covid themselves, or a family member, people who were exposed and who are quarantining, and some people who have flat out quit because they don't want to deal with this mess. I really believe the employees are trying. DeJoy and the federal gubermint are another story.
Many shippers who normally use UPS or Fedex are going through USPS so.. the trifecta .. Plus the cost cutting stuff by the PMG.
If this is the only thing I have to worry about right now I am happy.. our packages will all make it eventually.
