R-SIM is a SIM card add-on that looks like a really thin SIM card that mounts on top of your nano sim (or below depending on the model) that allows you to bypass the sim lock by hard coding a new ICCID that is unlocked.

You can buy the R-SIMs off ebay/amazon and they are usually $10 give or take.

It works reasonably well and the wiki talks about how to operate it, the only challenge is sometimes iOS updates break it and sometimes you need a new ICCID but for the most part it's great and allows you to use a SIM locked phone with any provider. and in this case you dont have to wait 180 days with Cricket to get an unlock code.

Keep in mind it is unlike the factory unlocking process which is permanent. Here you are dependent always on the R-SIM.

back in the day it also went by the name Gevey SIM.

As long as you have an old Sprint SIM card laying around (they're reusable)... and an IMEI from a phone that's compatible with Sprint's network, you can sign up for the $5 service (data only) or if you want to play it safe... $6 service (500mb data, 100 min). Pay for service, enter in IMEI and SIM card info, activate. You'll have instant access to a new phone number, pin to access port out info.

Maybe my question will be answered when I start going thru the process but the ad says I need to activate a $60 plan when I order the phone to get that price. Obviously I don't want that 2nd plan, so intend on cancelling the $60 plan as soon as I have the phone and activate it. Then swap in the sim from my MILs phone. Wasn't sure what the consequence would be once that plan is deactivated. Not a chance I'm not messing with my grandfathered plan.
That's fine. I've been doing this the same way with my grandfathered plan. The $60 plan is in a sense wasted, but the cost for the phone is still so low so I just factor that in.
You can also send yourself a referral from your grandfathered plan and use it when you setup the new plan. If you downgrade immediately then you have 2months at $30. This will get you a $25 credit on the grandfather plan. I usually just leave that sim in a old phone and let it expire.

You can get on the $30 per month plan, It says you will receive the code after 75 days. So you will spend $90 and net $110 profit. Worst case if you stay put for 4 months, you will still spend $120 and net $80 profit
Is this a future deal which you are talking about?

correct, the $60 plan is required to get the iPhone SE for $50.
So you are at $110.
Have both the plan and phone in your cart and wait a few minutes on the cart page, a pop up with a $20 discount should appear. Apply that and you are down to $90 or so (taxes)

Once you get the phone, you can put her sim in it and use the new SE.
In case u don't want to wait for the popup here's the code to apply C205HG3HKSUA

Cheap iPhone SE 64gb for around $100.
if you want to go further, trade it in to apple for a $205 gift card.
$100 cash = $205 apple gc

minimum is $30 a month.
so you technically get 2 months free doing this deal.
as soon as you get it, activate it, it will show the $60 plan.
downgrade to the $30 per month plan. So you have 2 months 'paid' for already.
Do the referral to pay off the rest

Can cricket referral and rak-uten be stacked together?
I think the assumption right now is yes, but not sure anyone knows yet since it takes 60 days for the referral credit. Unless someone can speak for past deals. My $30 cap one cash back looks like it's going to come thru.

Basically, this is a "port-in your number and get a discounted phone" deal. In other words, if you switch your wireless carrier to Cricket and choose the $60/month plan, they'll sell you the iPhone SE (2nd gen) for $49.99.
  • You need a cell number that isn't currently on the AT&T network (includes ATT post-paid, ATT pre-paid, Cricket, some Tracfone, etc). If you don't have one, you'll have to buy one from somewhere like eBay, people on this thread, etc
  • You end up paying $109.99+tax. That's $49.99 for the phone, $60 for your monthly plan, and taxes.

Everything else is to sweeten the deal.
  • If you wait a few minutes at the checkout page, you'll see a little pop-up that offers you $20 off your order. Or you can find that code in this thread. This takes your cost down to $89.99+taxes.
  • You can get a referral code from someone who's already on Cricket. The way these work is that if you're still with Cricket after 2 months, both you and the referrer get a $25 credit in your Cricket account. If you choose to do this, you must generate the code and use it when you go through the activation process.
  • Downgrading your plan. Since you bought the required $60 plan to get the discounted phone price, you'll automatically be signed up for the $60 plan when you activate the sim card. However, you can downgrade your plan within a day of activation and get the balance as a credit to your account. For example, if you choose to downgrade to the $40 plan, you'll get $20 in your account.
  • If you use a referral code and downgrade to the $30/month plan, you end up being just $5 short of getting 3 months of service with Cricket.
  • You can opt to take advantage of the multi-line discount that Cricket offers, where you can get two $60/month plans for only $90. If you choose to do that, you end up paying $169.98+tax. That's $99.98 for the phone, $90 for the wireless plans, and -$20 for the discount code.]
Other sweeteners:
Credit cards with $25 cricket offers (chase, boa)
Ordering through rebate sites especially with a new user referral
Eventually getting your own cricket referral code and posting it online

Did you manage to port your number? As soon as i put visible sim in the phone (iphone se) it doesn't let me use the visible app.

Should i use another unlocked phone to activate the sim?
I have a factory unlocked Galaxy S10e that I use to activate service w/ Visible sim -- it's on their list of compatible BYOD phones so never been an issue for me

After activation I moved the Visible sim to another phone

Can you downgrade from the $60 plan to the $30 plan on the website? Or does that require chat or a phone call?
