FYI: Non-shuckable, USB connector is soldered on where the SATA connector is. Amazon review pictures show it.
I grabbed one of these recently, thinking I'd be able to install some PS4 games on it, and then also use it to e.g. back stuff up from my computers -- Nope.

However the PS4 "prepares" the drive for its use assimilates the whole drive, killing any existing partitions, and makes it unreadable to Windows. No options to choose a partition or tell it how much of the drive to use.
I'm not sure I understand why this is any better than the $90 WD 5TB on sale the other day. This seems like a "gamer" drive that's only a gamer drive because of branding...

Would anyone know if running games off of Steam from this would affect performance vs ssd or is it basically longer load times? I can live with the wait to save $$$

Seems to work fine for me. I don't notice any longer load time either.

Is this as good as WD Passport for regular use? or just specific for game drives?

Got this for $95 during Amazon Prime Day. Works fine.. maybe slightly faster than Passport, but not by much.

What about formatting it in windows as FAT32 then trying it on PS4?

Would this be fine for a PS5/Xbox Series X to play backwards compatible games or is an SSD much better?
