YMMV.
Walmart magically Jack's up MSRP on the phones every year... and would mess up the order half the time somehow. Full activation fee paid. And 128gb model was not available for the majority of the promotion. I personally would stay away from walmart they somehow manage to fck up the most simple tasks somehow. But that's just me.

Agreed 100% on YMMV. As a data point, I did mine online and no issue. Even no activation fee and came out to $320 after taxes (net $400 gift card) for an unlocked iPhone 11 64GB (more than enough for my purposes)

Looks like you have to switch to unlimited, where they don't allow for employee discounts. Verizon has been pushing that with almost all of its non-new line deals
Data points indicate phones are shipped unlocked so you use your existing SIM and there's no activation. Plus you aren't forced to be in one of their unlimited plan (if you weren't before)
Verizon never has deals for upgrades anymore. It is extremely frustrating. This would have been a good deal if it was eligible tor upgrades too. If you get a new line, there are better deals on the 12
