I bought this last time it was $499 a few weeks ago. Android on this TV is very laggy. Although all panels vary, the one I got had a lot of bright spots from the LEDs. Decent image quality, but I will be returning mine.

Yes Android TV is laggy on initial boot up. Also the picture mode cannot be adjusted from within your viewing experience. There aren't any reviews for this TV on rtings or anywhere

Since this TV hasn't been reviewed anywhere, comments at the previous post is a bit helpful: https://slickdeals.net/f/14465384-sharp-aquos-70-class-4k-full-array-hdr-smart-tv-499-99?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo1

They're not as popular anymore but sharp used to produce some really nice TVs. Not sure about present day models. They seem to be similar to the brands you mentioned

Sharp had sold off their name to Hisense in recent years for US sales. This is their first entry from the real Sharp factory back in the USA. The company went through some tough times in that period. Too bad it seems like they aren't as good as the Aquos from yesteryears. My 10 year old 65" LC65E77UM cfl is still working great with a fantastic picture after all these years.

Yup Sharp was the king back in the day. Made all sorts of appliances and electronics which were built like tanks. These days they are just a shadow of their former selves.

I assumed this Sharp TV would be the first to be made by Foxconn (owner of Sharp now) under the Sharp name. The previous were all made by hisense and those were pretty junk. Foxconn rebought the rights after the name deteriorated under hisense but due to the pricing and energy star sticker this may be another rebadged hisense set

Yep, my old sharp tv back in 07 was amazing. Still running today. Bought a sharp tv in 2017 and it smelled like burning rubber every time I turned it on. After 3 months, and trying everything I could think of to burn off the fumes, I gave up and sold it. I then bought a Sony and have had 0 issues since.

I feel ya on that Zelda, just means people these days are not to intelligent when stating a comment such as never hearing of a company like Sharp. Lol unless its in the store in front of people's faces they are clueless. Speaking of Zelda...probably never heard of that either 😂

Tested it w/ i1dispro colorimeter. Standard gamut, ~243nits @ 6500k color temp, 4300:1 contrast ratio.

Within expectation. But somewhat disappointed it can not hit the 300 nit from the bestbuy specs page.

For HDR, you guys want at least 300+ nits, with only 243, over time , taking into account a little dimming from wear/tear, this will not hold up for HDR.

HOWEVER, It is certainly a very good SDR set.

Minimal backlight bloom, 1:1 pixel mapping, no spatial dithering (disappointed, i'd prefer it). Supports 444 in 8bit 23/24/30/60hz.

Does not support 10bit 444 in 23/24/30hz modes. TCL Tvs in roku platforms do.

~95.6% Srgb gamut. NO WIDE GAMUT for Hdr spec.

PC connection problem.

Everytime you turn the tv On and Off, you have to reset the PC-mode to get it back to 444. It defaults to 420, even when you've had pc mode turned on BEFORE turning it off. laugh out loud

This is ALOT, 21 button presses on this TV, so unfortunately I will be returning the unit.

I understand this is something they will fix in a firmware update, (i'm on the latest firmware), but with the pandemic, the fact that it's a low priority product for them, I'm not gonna wait it out.

This is probably not a problem anyone using this tv for something else will worry about. nod

I avoided the Samsung $530 tv because The Tizen OS also has PC interconnect issues where setting 23/24hz mode disables 444. This is again not a problem if you're not a cadence-enthusiast.

That said, the samsung unit would still be better than THIS particular unit for PC use, as it will reboot to 444 60hz mode just fine.

Sharp is a Japanese brand, but a few years ago they couldn't compete in the US market anymore then sold their naming rights to Hisense in the U.S. Sharp sued Hisense because they diminished their name and sold "low quality" sets, and bought the name back from Hisense.

This seems to be the only set that Sharp sells in the US that is made directly by Sharp.

I guess they're seeing if it's even viable for them to return back to the US market by only having one model.

The original (Japanese) Sharp always made high quality Aquos TVs before they left the US market the first time; I'd say good quality and dependable, but who knows about warranty support down the line if they decide to leave again.

This is a real Sharp TV by Sharp. They have it listed on their US website (the only one).
