UPDATE (4/2/21 @ 10:18AM PDT): I want to apologize to those of you who purchased this product because of my posting and experienced the same results I did. I did buy one of these and used it a bit late last year, maybe once or twice. I finally started to use it more consistently in the past week or so and it failed (and I returned it to Home Depot).
The failure was that one of the "keyed" parts (there are 2 of them) on the main body that holds the black plastic "escutcheon" (protective cover between the main body and metal nozzle that twists on) melted and allowed the escutcheon to fall off and onto the item I was heating.
I cannot, in good conscience, any longer recommend this product, whether it's on sale or not.
I regret this posting knowing what I now know.
I have since purchased a different heat gun by a more reputable manufacturer.

Good question. I think it should as you can broil creme brûlée at 500F but probably not as fast as the temperature of a butane flame is 2,600 F or more than double what this gun should do. There's also the potential toxicity aspect as this was not meant to be for foods.

This one is a few dollars more but has different attachments and different temperature settings than the HF one.

I had bought a B&D at HD a couple of weeks ago for about $9 more. I've ordered up this one and will return the B&D...additional nozzles and save a few bucks (no cost to get it delivered to me!). Win-win
The Harbor Freight one has a 90 day warranty and doesnt have any of those attachments. So if it breaks in 90 days youre going to end up getting another one w/o having those attachments. For those who is considering one or the other. l
