You can use the Amazon Alexa app (did on iOS) and worked.
I did have registered echo devices, so haven't tested with just the sole app by itself.

I tried with app on phone and fire TV. Wasn't successful with either but I also have no echoes.

Not sure if it is still same but if you lost internet, there is some chance the plug automatically turn off outlet.

I have one of these connected to the 24-outlet power strip mounted to my desk. I have a all outlets used on it. When I'm done working for the day, "Alexa, turn off desk power" and then I save all the vampire electricity cost.

I also use one for the fan in my bedroom.

I used Alexa ony Ecobee, said the phrase to order. But it didn't work, it kept saying it found the Amazon Smart Plug and it's $24.99 and added to my cart

You rock! I've been waiting for another one of these deals!

I've found that other Wi-Fi switches are unreliable at times, have apps that potentially could go away, and I guess I trust the Alexa plugs more than others. Just don't want to pay $25 each.

It didn't work for me on iOS Alexa app and I have registered Echo devices. Did work through Echo device.

I use one in the master bedroom for a lamp not near the bed. The other one is for a living room lamp that sometimes I like to shut off when I'm watching a movie but don't want to be bothered to get up and flip it off.
