The S5 is an older model. The S6 Pure is a great vac for those who have a multi level home, or a mix of hard floors and carpets/rugs, and don't want or need sophisticated mopping capabilities.

(By "sophisticated mopping capabilities," I mean an electronic water tank that is controlled by the app, allowing you to create the things like "no mop zones." For those features, but the S5 Max, on sale for about $80 more than this deal.)

If you have only hardwood floors, or only very tight outdoor-style rugs, or only a small 1-level home, then there are cheaper models than this (like the S4 or E4) that may suit your needs.

I have no desire for mopping, but I bought this S6 Pure last time it was at this price because it made it cheaper than the S4 Max. I just never installed the mop. It's been awesome. Highly recommend Roborock.

Got this in the last deal. The setup process was slightly cumbersome. Some things to watch out for:

1. You need to use the Mi Home app. The Roborock app wasn't working (at least for me).
2. Your wifi SSID has to be alphanumeric characters only, and you have to connect to the 2.4GHz band, if your router is dual band. If you have a mesh router, it should auto-connect to the 2.4GHz band.
3. You need to give the app precise location permissions (otherwise it wasn't connecting to wifi successfully).

After the setup though, I'm fairly happy with the performance. The app isn't very polished, but it does its job. The LIDAR is definitely nice though, the mapping is fairly accurate in terms of boundaries, and drawing boundaries in the app is usable. Haven't tried the mopping feature and don't intend to.

The hardwood performance on rtings is much better than the Roomba 960, which made me gravitate towards this one, that and the zone mapping feature.

I have a 3-floor house, and I think iRobot i3 or 960 doesn't support multi-floor mappings, how about this one?
Yes this supports up to 3 maps to be saved.

yes it does. I did a lot of research on this model and ended up going with this one based on all of the positive reviews. There was another model that was on sale from Coredy but decided not to get that one after watching a video were they bundle gift cards for positive reviews.

That Roomba doesn't have LIDAR navigation and mapping features. Only you can decide whether that's worth $90 to you, but if you have any but the simplest small apartment, you'll like that feature a lot.
The roomba i3 maps, but it doesnt save. The top mount cameras on the higher end roomba are only used for sensing objects and what not, they track the floor the same way though.

Sweet! Thanks OP. Im getting vinyl planking laid in most of my house, so was about to buy the S4 Max, since I really don't care about the mop feature. This is cheaper by $70, so I got this instead.

These are good questions. There is no single answer. Depends on your needs and desires. The only strong recommendation I'll make is not to bother with the mop, because you have hardwood floors. I could see it on tile, but as you noted they just drag water across your floor, and that's not good for hardwood.

IF you want a simple, reliable robot that's going to clean the whole floor every time, than the i3 fits that bill. If you have space to dock one on each floor, and you just want to buy two and set them on auto pilot and clean everywhere once a week, then you'll both be happy with the i3+, or even with a lower priced model like the Roborock E4 that doesn't have laser mapping but does use infrared to clean in a logical pattern.

IF you want the more sophisticated mapping features, then I recommend the Roborock S4 Max (or this S6 Pure deal -- just don't install the mop). I really love the technology. Once it's mapped your house, you can have different schedules for different rooms, and you can do thinks like say "Hey Siri, vacuum the kitchen." and it gets to work. I spilled some powdered sugar this morning and just opened the app and told my Roborock to clean that spot (Didn't have to go get the robot.). It's adding technology. The multi-floor mapping feature is also excellent, though it is definitely a compromise vs. having robots docked on each floor (Obviously, it can't clean rooms on the "other" floor automatically. You have to carry it there, then tell it what to do, but once there, it can clean rooms selectively etc.).

Some people LOVE the self-emptying bin. I personally don't get it. Instead of emptying a simple dust bin, you're buying bags and emptying bags (albeit much less frequently). Also they advertise that feature as "don't think about vacuuming for a month at a time," but I don't think I'd want to go a month without looking under the vac for things like long hair, strings, twist ties or papers that may have wrapped around the roller or clogged the intake. However, I don't have a house full of pets shedding all over the place and filling up the dustbin daily. I think those are the people who like the self-emptying bin.

As I mentioned earlier, the S4 Max and the S6 Pure are functionally pretty much the same vacuum. The difference is the S6 Pure's basic mopping functions. Since the S4 Max is in short supply and not on sale, you could buy the S6 Pure and just not install the mop.
This Is BEYOND helpful. Thank you for taking the time to write the response, I know firsthand how long that takes to when helping a stranger out on SD. I bough the S6 Pure based on your recommendation and will just carry the robot from floor to floor when needed. I think I'll also install the mop because it would be handy to at least do my kitchen tile, but as you suggested, will not mop the rest of the hardwood.

Thanks again and happy holidays. I know my wife (and me, frankly, haha) will be thrilled.

Do you know how is the customer service of this roborock in case of issue?
I'm planning to buy vacuum from Costco due to better customer service.

I'd get the S4 Max or The S6 Pure (because the S6 Pure is on sale, and you can just not install the mop, the way I did). Functionally, they are pretty much identical if you ignore the mop.

I would never use one of these mopping features on hardwood floors. They just drag plain water across your floor, which is terrible for hardwood.
Does it mop better vinyl or tile floors?

This or the s5 max for 436? Other than the larger water tank for s5max, is there any difference?
If mopping is important to you, I would go for the S5 Max (unless your home is 100% tile floors throughout). The S5 Max has an electronic water tank, which lets you control it from the app, with things like no-mop zones. The S6 Pure is a "dumb" water tank that you either switch on or off.

This or the Roborock S5 MAX Robot Vacuum and Mop Cleaner? I have a 3 bed room apartment, with hardwood floors. Please help
Personal opinion but if you have hardwood floors, I would not use any robot vac for mopping. They just drag plain water across your floor -- that's not great for hardwood floors. So if it were me, I would be the S6 Pure and don't install the mop at all.OR if all you have is hardwood and no plush rugs, then save money and get the S4, which rides lower to the ground and is just for vacuuming hard floors or low, tight rugs.
