I might be making a mistake since I know nothing about this black magic laser stuff but the reviews looks good and I just need something cheap.

Very nice price good product line, however if I were to purchase a laser distance finder it would 100% for sure be a Bluetooth laser distance finder and one of these ones that magicplan supports.
Whether you're you're in the building or renovation trade, or are we looking at making the ultimate built-in cabinet or closet customisation, or even something as crazy as wanting to render floor plans or a VR walkthrough of your home or slated improvements, had to plan along with a paired Bluetooth laser meter mskes ridiculously quick work of capturing the space.
Most of the Bluetooth distance meters on the market come with that company's somewhat useful but generally fairly basic / limited app for download. Magicplan has been around for at least 5 years now, they now have an official deal with Home Depot where they will list whatever the required materials for what you're trying to do would be built in square footage and as well as cost if you select a specific you know whatever is in their inventory or able to be ordered.
By this point you're probably questioning whether or not I am getting paid by this company to see these things, but no I am definitely not, in fact I've only made about three measurements using a link Bluetooth laser meter, in this case I believe it was the Bosch glm 120, and it was a friend of mine's who has used it many times the why was the one who introduced him to the software.
I imagine that any of the app-enabled Bluetooth laser distance meters weather be able to quickly being out a medium sized apartment in about 10 to 15 minutes, enabling you to make decisions about whether or not you want an apartment based on whether or not all your stuff would fit in there if you had your Furnitures items as a pallet to the application. Anyways I've gotten a little off topic thanks for bearing with me on all that in general pushing the concept of a bluetooth-enabled 1 + I would highly recommend one of the ones that supports magicplan as opposed to one of the strictly single company proprietary apps
