The "value" of this sub comes at the cost of risk you'll have a 100lb brick at some point. My ported 15 broke on me after just a few months. Monoprice customer service is the worst I've ever encountered, enough to completely sour me from the company. After about a dozen messages redirecting me around the company, not only are they refusing warranty work on the amp of my ported 15 (it was an ebay sale), they also won't even replace the amp for $$$. After research I found many cases of the same issue with their amps. I have a 100lb brick.
Go straight to the 15. You can always turn it down if it is too much.
FWIW, I tested the Monolith subwoofers last month for my site/YouTube channel. I test objectively using a set of standards to define the maximum SPL at different frequencies and then I added my two cents in regarding any kind of resonance/port chuffing (spoiler, there is none). Overall, I think these are very capable subwoofers and a great bang for the buck at the standard price, so with the sale price, it's a bit sweeter. I can't comment on longevity; I have talked to a few who have had issues but for the most part, everyone who has commented to me about theirs has been happy. At any rate, if you want to get some objective data and my opinion based on that, here's my review:
Thank you! In for my second 15in. Loving the first one. Got a mini DSP with UMIK 1 to dial them in and then going to BEQ to bring back the ULF filtered bass. https://www.avsforum.com/threads/...s.2995212/ only thing is I feel the power cord for the sub is too short. Hard to find a good two prong replacement that's longer than 6ft. I plug directly into the wall.
Sweet deal, don't know if I should go for 12 or 15. I have a monolith 10 and while I love the clarity, I feel like it lacks punch in my basement. Wonder if 12 will give me that extra oomph or should I just go straight to 15
I've been holding out for about a year and a half. I feel like I've never seen it go any lower than this sale which runs every few months.
Truth. Last best deal on 12" was 20% off on amazon, $639 iirc. Thats when i got my first 12 and want another so bad! SO refuses though, would not have gotten away with the first if she knew how big itd be.

Yeah I think I remember that deal. A lot of people got theirs canceled I think, or waited forever for it.
This 12" or SVS PB 2000? I can finally ask since these are in the same price range and performance. I have a fairly large living room that opens to the rest of the house. I'm looking for the movie experience more than music, but I want the music to still sound good.

I've had both. I prefer the Monolith but it's a minimal preference. Considering the PB-2000 is $100 cheaper right now (crazy price), I'd go for it instead. You also get the better SVS customer service and a more popular sub to find (if you ever choose to add another one).
