Have one of these and use it all the time. My garage floor has a slope so I can't use a level to make sure surfaces are parallel.

Put it on your table saw and zero it out. Then stick it to your blade and crank until you get the proper angle. It has magnets on the bottom and sides.

add 2 and use code V20724 for free economy shipping. It could be a great holiday gift for your woodworking buddy.

Cheap ones have many negative reviews regarding its durability and accuracy, and many of them probably miss lights on the screen.

There are many.. look for one with coupons which would bring down the price. These are the things you should look for
  1. accuracy to 0.1 of a degree
  2. AAA battery. These days there are USB-C compatible rechargeable ones. I would still prefer a AAA compatible device
  3. screen lit
  4. magnetic base
  5. quick response as the angle changes (some models take forever which leads to frustration)
  6. Ability of screen to flip while upside down

All that being said, it is kind of gimmicky. If you are serious about woodworking, you already have jigs to make 45 degree cuts so that you don't end up tilting the blade.

Hope that helps Peace

Woodworkers Guild recently posted a video showing how to use your phone for this and I was thinking of doing that but I might grab one of these instead.

I rather like an Android app called Clinometer, but there are a lot of phone apps that work. Don't get me wrong, I have one of these angle gauges too, but few people do as much measuring as I do.

Skip this. Get one with the magnet on the side and a 9V battery. Igaging makes one.
