Would this be too big for my 8 year old. Tempted, got the $69 razor, but figure in a year (or few months) he will want bigger and better...Start low and go high...or just start high?

Buy now, think later. If it's too tall, save it for later or return. You won't get any cheaper than this for specs like this. The Razor scooters you're referring to aren't that great, he'll probably get bored of it quickly.

I have a few cheap ones because the family can all enjoy it. We don't need to lock it up outside, we can take it inside folded into a store or restaurant. Scooters don't cost that much, the most I paid was $350 for specs similar to this. A smartass like you know nothing about scooters anyways.

Way too big and high for the kid to hold on properly. Unless you 8 yr old is already 4'10" tall.

The main plus for something like this is the cruise control, not so much the speed. You need range and versatility. For kids, get them a Razor scooter.

Or the Ninebot ES2.

Do I need to know that much to know that having a 28 mile range for $200 is a great price? No, why do you think you need to be some sort of expert on scooters? You say I don't know anything about scooters, but you saying "scooters don't cost that much" says A LOT about what you know about them, which is nothing.

Please tell me the model of the scooter that you paid $350 for with similar specs to this.
