Just a tip. You should copy/paste the list of games and prices for a sale, or at least a few of the better choices/deals. A lot of people find it annoying to list a general sale with no info.
I don't remember Steam having an "Autumn Sale" before. I thought they normally had a Winter Sale around Christmas. I wonder if we'll still get a Winter Sale in a few more weeks?
I realize Steam sales pale in comparison to several years ago, but if you have time to dig deep enough there are usually a few good deals each time. In the old days a Steam Summer/Winter sale would get a lot more interest on SD, but nowadays I guess nobody really cares because most of the prices are meh.

I've had a few items on my wishlist just to see the price fluctuation. The prices in this "sale" are no different than other random sales they've had through the year. I'm sure there are some games that may be discounted more than in the past, but I don't know which ones.

Exactly. I do that too, and the majority of items I watch drop back to the same old prices every sale. It's rare (and sometimes takes years) to see a new low. In fact, I have several games in my list which had much lower prices many years ago and the new sale prices don't even come close. Yet every sale I typically find a few cheap ones to buy, especially if other people mention/suggest certain titles which is why a thread like this could be useful.
I don't know any good way of checking for better prices either except by checking the wishlist or searching. I think isthereanydeal dot com might have email price alerts if someone had time to set it all up for lots of games.
