These are non-4k and do not come with a remote. The new Google chromecast TV is best option at $50
Depends. This can only do 1080p and doesn't have a remote with user interface. You'd need another device (i.e. smartphone or computer) to control your media. I would not get this personally because the 4K Firestick and 4K capable Roku stick are roughly only $10 more and offer better performance. The main benefit of this vs those two options is the option to stream videos from a Chrome browser to your TV, which is nice for when you're streaming something online on your computer but want to watch it on your TV without having to deal with cables. If that's something you really want then this is a cool device for that, but if you're patient, I'd suggest waiting to see if the Chromecast with Google TV goes on sale. It can stream 4K and comes with a remote and Android OS, so you can download a lot of different apps.
Some reviews say it disconnects a lot... btw no free shipping @ Walmart unless over $35... and Google adds $10 fee for shipping+taxes

for those that have chromecast with google tv, is there an option to lower the playback resolution if I don't want it on 4K to save on internet data? or is it service specific like if I can change the resolution through the netflix or prime video apps?

Is the Chromecast + Google TV worth the extra $20? Are the apps worth the increased price?
I own Fire sticks, Nvidia Shield, Rokus, and Chromecast.

The Chromeccast +GTV, by far the best, especially if you use Google often. Its VERY similar to firestick honestly, but I definitely prefer the CC+GTV. The remote really makes it worth for me (mostly because using my phone to add to chromecast annoys me)

Its closer to a firestick UI, I personally like it better than the Roku (but my mother likes the Roku interface better)

I bought the 2nd gen back in 2017 and I haven't used it once. I thought it'd turn into a smart TV but all it really did was screen mirror my phone, cast my photos or watch youtube.
Thanks for the info, I will try to mirror my android 10 phonePeace
Looks like many new Chromebooks no longer come with HDMI.

Can this screen mirror without wifi? I use my cell carrier as my primary ISP. I'm not using a Samsung with smart view though, I have a Moto G7 Power. Thank you!

CCwGTV should be going down to $39.99 on Black Friday, I think the device itself even at its current price is a much better deal. I got mine last week and I'd argue it's the new gold standard. You can stream content up to 4K at 60fps (if your TV allows it) and I personally use it to stream games from my PC to my TV often. It works amazingly with Moonlight/Gamestream (Steamlink ha issues Valve's working on TBD) with barely any latency on my Wi-Fi and the graphics are great. You can sideload apk's too if you want to do more and even run some emulators natively on the device (you can expand storage with a USB hub, it only has 4GB internal). And lastly, it's a chromecast. It basically beats Fire TV in every category and does what this chromecast can do and alot more. Since the next best thing is three times the price (Nvidia Shield TV) the dongle has really surprised me with it's capabilities and bright future so far.
Can you tell me more about side loading apps on the Google TV? I want to put the Les Mills app on it for my home gym TV

If you subscribe to Netflix anyway, there's a deal that includes 6 months of netflix and the chromecast with google tv. It's $90 plus tax, I think it worked out to costing me a little more than $11 over what I would've paid for 6 months of Netflix alone. I probably won't use it much, but at that price I'll take one just to try it out.

https://store.google.com/us/confi...tv_netflix

Edited: I originally said it only cost a little over $1 more than I would've paid for Netflix alone, but forgot that was after the $10 credit google gave me because my order was delayed. I canceled the original one and reordered using the credit.
Quick question, I bought and setup a google TV with Netflix for my parents, but I didn't see anything on in the interface about the 6 months of Netflix we paid for, is a code emailed to the gmail account associated with the Google TV?

Google store contradict itself. The homepage says free shipping on all orders. But it charges $9.99 shipping. Deceptive practice.

It's a good deal, yes. But not everyone needs a netflix subscription, at least not for my case. My best friend lets me use his NF for free, so pointless for me to get it myself.
Next time you're with your best friend, have them order it on their account and you pay for it. You contribute $84.00 to the Netflix account and whoever needs it gets the new Google TVSmilieSmilie

the remote is pointless if you're buying this to cast kinda defeats the whole point
If all someone does is cast, maybe, but why couldn't they do both? I don't always have my phone sitting next to me. Having to go to another room or upstairs to get my phone, just so I can watch TV, seems kinda pointless too.

Bout the same. I stream a lot of movies from my Chromebook so the new CC with Google TV is gonna be nice for me. I also remember my old Chromecast not having HBO but this new one does.
