I've had my 36 BS for two years in Chicago. No issues but I use it year round and oil after each use. Highly recommend the griddle. Adds a whole new repertoire of things to cook. I've been looking at this model as well but am still contemplating the 36 with air fryers. The 4 burners and the extra room is very nice when cooking different things at the same time.

Whoops - you're right! I had been watching it at $399 and finally pulled the trigger yesterday - just noticed I was only charged $369!

So this runs off propane but needs to be plugged in for air fryer only?

Yes. Plug in for the air fryer fan. It's heated from the propane.

Is it worth getting the 4 year warranty and is this complete overkill for just me and my wife?

FIrst time I've become aware of "outdoor griddles" as opposed to grills. Just starting to research. A different Blackstone griddle on Amazon (model 1554) has many complaints about show-stopper rust. Trying to understand whether all these people failed to keep the surface seasoned properly or if this is a battle to perpetually fight w/outdoor griddles. FWIW, I'm in Boston, if that makes any difference. If anyone has insight from experience, I'd be interested, thanks

Not complete overkill. I'm a family of 4 with two kids and will probably end up going with the 36 with air fryer. The extra room is very nice. Black stone is a pretty good company and the things that could fail are typically pretty easily replaced. If you take care of her, the warranty is most likely not needed.

The 28" model is actually heated by electric as well the warming tray has an electric heating element. The 36" air fryer is heated by propane and the warming try is heated by residual heat.

I think someone else responded as well. I'm kinda from "Boston" as well and have the 36" and got it 2 end of summers ago. No rust just as others said keep it seasoned and oiled. Check around too there may be some clearance models for less in store. I got mine previously for $122..

I have had mine for 2 years and best purchase for outside. I have had several high quality grills and they all eventually fail. this thing is going strong.
