NICE laptop for general use. Not sure what the big advantage is (beyond bragging rights) of spending the money to upgrade the CPU though.

Unless you plan on using it to mostly rip video or some other task where threads really, really, count, you are paying roughly an extra 20% to upgrade from 6 real cores without hyper-threading to 8 real cores without hyper-threading (and just slightly better integrated graphics), which on a machine without a discrete graphics card which will probably get used mostly for web surfing and office use, doesn't really matter. It's unlikely you'll be able to notice the difference for anything this machine is capable of doing, with the exception of something like ripping.

The real slick deal here (since the system cannot be used for serious gaming anyway without a discrete graphics card) is to leave the 4500U, upgrade the wireless card to Intel, upgrade the memory to 16GB, worry about upgrading the SSD later, apply the coupon code, and call it a day.

Even with the 4500U, this thing is a beast for every day use (everything short of gaming).

This is the same Laptop in the now expired FP deal below: -
the https://slickdeals.net/f/14592496-hp-envy-x360-15-1080p-ips-touch-ryzen-7-4700u-16gb-ddr4-512gb-pcie-ssd-active-pen-win10h-788-49-f-s?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo1

However, using the new 10% coupon code, the price has been reduced by $32.

I would just buy the 256GB option and buy a separate 1TB M.2 SSD to upgrade. Still a good deal though.

If you are okay with that, go with it. Just remember, your total price should be $599+ for the coupon to work.
