Note that if you're buying this for the new zen 3 series processor, you'll need to have an older ryzen processor at hand to do a BIOS update to make it compatible for the new zen 3. This motherboard will not work otherwise and it does not have BIOS flashback.

Starting to seem like maybe the constant isn't the boards.

This board has the best VRM temps for the cost you can get. Only board better that would be worth it is the MSI MAG

I have one of the prior Asus models now for over a year, it's incredible. Easy BIOS as well. I read on Toms Hardware about this one and PC Gamer, both highly recommended. So this is going in my boy's new build.

Agree. I've balanced buying a warranty on these things but honestly in 2 boards, never had one fail. Ever. I'm super careful with the power supplies though and static discharge.

You really can't go wrong with either. But you will pay more for Tomahawk.

how many layers is the pcb? I use it as a reference for ram overclocking. My problem is, I have x4 ram sticks. So I either get a good board that can do that @ 3800mhz, or I save a little on a board, and sell my ram, and spend the extra on x2 sticks.

If you're talking about the B550 Tomahawk that's on sale, I'd probably go with the MSI or the ASUS ROG Strix B550 board that's also on sale if you're just gaming. If you need wifi and the extra pcie 4 lanes then this is the better option.

I bought this on Prime Day and it's a great motherboard that has a pretty solid BIOS and is easy to use.
