My experience with backlit keyboards is they wash out on white or silver laptops due to the screen reflecting off of the keys. Opt for the Fog Blue to minimize.
Add TOUCH, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD -- The configuration comes to 609, Apply coupon SMBHOL10 to bring down the total to $548.

Coupon SMBHOL10 works for $599 or more.

Paypal Chase offer gives 5% cashback too !!
Wow $400 for Ryzen 7 4700U + FHD screen + WiFi 6 (just $10 for the WiFi upgrade, so why not futureproof it), it's gotta be one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest ever for that combo.

A pretty futureproof buy, and I think the RAM and SSD are replaceable so if you need to do it now, or in the future, it's a perfect base to start with.

And some people said it unadded when left in the shopping cart too long.
And of course 'no, we can't change your configuration after your order is confirmed'.
The one I unpacked this morning (White) definitely had backlit keyboard as ordered.
And I had no problem seeing the letters on the keys while I waited for the sun to rise.

I still wish I'd noticed that I could do backlit keyboard with Fog Blue, that might have been worth $10 over Ceramic White. I showed mine to my mother, she definitely wants the white one that came today, not the Silver one that I accidentally paid $10 extra for.
Also to add, I think for a period of time the backlit keyboard was not available for the blue for whatever reason.

Maybe that's why I thought it was only on Silver and White. It was after I found this thread and people talking about backlight not working with pale keyboards that I tried to configure a blue one and it worked.

Pics of the white please!
It doesn't really seem to me that it stands out that much in person, but it shows well in this video (not exactly the same model)

Do you guys think 256gb is good enough or should I upgrade to 500gb or 1tb nvme m.2 ssd? Looks like the 1tb nvme m.2 is going for about $140-150 on amazon.

So weird they charged extra to have a matched laptop (silver top, keyboard, and bottom). I'd rather have silver; I like cohesive design. White is so 10 years ago.

Received the laptop an hour ago. I picked blue one with 8gb RAM, 256gb SSD with backlit keyboard. My finger print scanner worked during the initial setup itself. I installed all windows updates and during the process laptop became very warm. Laptop boots up under 9 seconds. Overall the quality is better than I expected.

And now Silver is standard and everything else including Ceramic White is +$10.
IIRC, on the 27th, Silver was standard and Ceramic was -$10. But they advertised the White price and charged you $10 more if you didn't manually select White.

Mine just arrived. It does not appear to have a backlit keyboard which I thought it was supposed to. Ugh.
I just went through the arduous process of dealing with HP support. They agree that my laptop is supposed to have a backlit keyboard so after deleting and reinstalling keyboard drivers and updating BIOS with no change I am to send my laptop back and they will correct the problem. Pain in the rear but hopefully it will be resolved, eventually.

Just got mine. Installed 32GB memory and 500GB m2 SSD. Downloaded Windows 10 and installation was fast.
There is only one m2 slot though. I can charge with the macbook usb c charger.

The plastic casing is a little flimsy but beats my expectation. The screen is bright enough for indoor use.

May I ask how you installed Win 10 on the new m.2? Its been a while since I did it. I am planning to use use my 500gb 960 evo m.2 but need to reformat first since it was used as the main pc drive. Thanks.

Login windows with the original ssd and your microsoft account. The laptop and windows key will be linked to your account. Then download windows 10 usb tools, swap the ssd and use the usb drive to install. Login with your Microsoft account and that's it. Activation is automatic.
