My experience with backlit keyboards is they wash out on white or silver laptops due to the screen reflecting off of the keys. Opt for the Fog Blue to minimize.
Add TOUCH, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD -- The configuration comes to 609, Apply coupon SMBHOL10 to bring down the total to $548.

Coupon SMBHOL10 works for $599 or more.

Paypal Chase offer gives 5% cashback too !!
Wow $400 for Ryzen 7 4700U + FHD screen + WiFi 6 (just $10 for the WiFi upgrade, so why not futureproof it), it's gotta be one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest ever for that combo.

A pretty futureproof buy, and I think the RAM and SSD are replaceable so if you need to do it now, or in the future, it's a perfect base to start with.

Yes. warranty starts on date of laptop purchase. So that means most of us already given up one month of the warranty since we all have to wait nearly a month since the day it was purchased
Any idea if the person who purchases the warranty needs to be the same person who purchased the laptop in order to get the rebate if the warranty goes unused? Doesn't seem to be the case but wondering if anyone has any experience

Anyone knows the deadline to buy the 3-year warranty from HP?
I am still struggling about if I should return the laptop due to the static sound problem(depends on whether or not that means defective), so may not need to buy the warranty before the decision is made.

This gift just keeps on giving.

I tried and it charges and displays with 1 USB-C cable, also the screen resolution can do 2048x1152 instead 1080p.

use code: HPSA33 to get it for $59. It's a really good deal if you are keeping the laptop for a long time. At the end of 3 yr if you don't use it, you can actually file for a refund. So it's practically free in that case.
Does it ask for the product serial number during checkout or afterwards? Wondering if I can buy the extended warranty now before the laptop arrives

This year there were some good deals on business class laptops in the Black Friday ad that never materialized for me (people would be saying it's in their shopping cart for $530, should they pull the trigger? and it's in my shopping cart for $800). And now I see business class computers being sold with modern (Ryzen 4xxx Intel 11xx) CPUs. Tempted to sell this one in the fall and grab another one on Black Friday. Do it every year and I'll always be in warranty.
I wonder if HP will pull the 'final sale, no returns' crap next year?

For those that were installing a new hard drive.

Sign up for the Microsoft account to link it to your laptop/windows

Then go here

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../windows10

Install to a USB drive and then replace drive and reboot with USB drive in it.

Install away.

Did you notice the static sound when it was on Windows 10 before you rebuilt the machine #2 for Linux Mint? I wonder if you might get one good laptop with one bad. I bought one and I got the static sound too.
2 different machines
I tried an USB live Mint on machine 1 to test whether the sound is system related and found unfortunately the sound exists, so maybe a QC problem.
However my wife doesn't care, so it's not an issue anymore

You don't need to login your MS account
Activation is based on your MoBo, not account

Was about to post the same thing, Windows license or activation is stored in your system's UEFI/BIOS settings.

only if you install windows 10 home for uefi boot. If you try to install windows 10 with non secure legacy boot or another version of windows 10, still need license and activation.
