Couple major negatives:
- They want you to pay a subscription fee to maintain all features. You get a year free included. There's just nothing about the MyQ system that warrants paying a regular fee. They're never going to successfully create a MyQ ecosystem in the face of the competition
- It does not natively support Google Home. Rather, it supports Google Assistant and behaves like an old, clunky Alexa skill. For example, you have to say, "Hey Google, Tell MyQ to close the garage door.". Google Home integration would allow you to name the door whatever you want and simply say, "Hey Google, close the garage door". This also means you can not use this with Google Home routines and other integrations like IFTTT.
- You can not open the garage door through 3rd party integrations. They block it out of security concerns and do not allow you to opt in.
- There are alternative products on the market that you can wire in and solve all of the above.
The good:
- It was pretty easy to install.
- It worked with a very old, Genie garage door.
- The Amazon Key integration is pretty cool.
- It was cheap at $17.
Other Notes:
- It communicates with the garage door opener wirelessly, behaving like another remote.
- There's an included wireless door sensor you stick on the inside of your door. When it's vertical, the door is closed, when it's horizontal, the door must be open. Pretty clever.
- You need a sensor for each independently opening door you have. Buy multiples of the kit at this price to get more sensors.
- The product docs say you need a 'myq compatible door opener'. I panicked at first, as I have a Genie, but realized this is just about every door opener made in the last couple decades, with some exclusions.
I can ask Siri to open and close the door, or tell me the current status of the door.

If I may ask;
What's your favorite use case for this thing?
Can it tell when a garage is left open? Any notifications for that? Is there a monthly fee?
Cheers!!
Same. It just works, and works well. Worth it. Not all zip codes will work with Amazon key, but it's nice and convenient.

It will let you know of the garage door is closed or open state. You can also open our close it from anywhere.

Yes it can tell you the garage status. I set up Siri Shortcuts, so I can tell Siri to open/close the garage, or ask the current status.
