These are always going to be better than a sound bar in my opinion. This will give you full 5.1 surround sound. A sound bar is only directly facing you.

I've heard really good things about this, People say this is considerably better than having a soundbar, definitely a great price for an introductory Home Theater setup.

My dad has had onxyo for years now. When his last system became obsolete (because it didn't have hdmi) he wouldn't get anything but Onkyo. This is a good deal. Normally the tuner alone is around $300

had my old onkyo since 2012 or something something just like this, going very strong and been very happy. only difference is i think i paid like $150 then for a 7.1 setup haha i didnt end up using the 2 satellite anyway so using it as 5.1

Got an Onkyo surround system back in 1998 and receiver is still my primary driver for my living room surround. Agree with previous comments regarding quality and longevity of Onkyo, although build quality could have changed.
