Lenovo ThinkPad T14s AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U Customizable 16GB/128GB) $755

Lowest price I've seen so far for Lenovo's well-reviewed ThinkPad T14s with AMD Ryzen 4000 PRO series processors. Very light at 2.8 lbs, and probably the best combination of portability and performance in the ThinkPad line. Use coupon code THINKBUSTER (need to replace the prepopulated coupon code) to get the base price to $688.05 with 8GB RAM, $755.10 for 16GB RAM. Many users should be able to get another 5% off from senior/student/teacher/first responder/military discount.

Base configuration:
- Ryzen PRO 4650U (6 cores 12 threads)
- 14-inch FHD IPS display (non-touch, matte), 250 nits, upgrades available
- 8GB RAM ($688.05) or 16GB (+$67.05); 32GB RAM available with 4750U processor
- 128GB PCIe SSD, m.2 slot (easy to upgrade)
- Windows 10 Home, optional upgrade to Pro
- Backlit keyboard
- Intel AX200 wifi/Bluetooth
- 57Whr battery
- Optional fingerprint reader or IR camera for Windows Hello
- 2.8 lbs

For example, a configuration with the 4650U, 16GB RAM, base 128GB SSD, 400-nit display, IR camera, and Windows 10 Pro is $934.65.

Note that the T14s only has soldered memory, so get what you need at time of purchase. SSD is user-upgradable, so I'd leave it at 128GB. Backlit keyboard is standard.

That's for a touch-screen. Those who can't abide a 250-nit IPS display can pay $104 for a 400-nit low-power IPS panel. I'd probably stick with the base display and put the money toward an external monitor.

I know this sounds basic and generalistic but... I can't help but feel like Lenovo Corp China is price gouging us on these so-called "Black Friday laptop deals."

If you're looking for the lowest price for a certain set of specs, then a ThinkPad isn't for you. This is the lowest price I've seen since the T14s with Ryzen was introduced in the spring.

Umm ... to use Windows? Don't get me wrong, I think the M1 chip is a game-changer. But many people prefer Windows or have to use it. The Ryzen 4000 chips are pretty competitive with the M1 in performance if not in battery life.

STAY AWAY FROM LENOVO. Poor reliability, horrible customer service. I've had a hellish experience trying to get multiple Lenovo laptops repaired that are under warranty. Customer service is as bad as any that I have dealt with in 40 years. The products and price points are attractive at sale prices, but you will pay big time on the back end with wasted time and broken products. 3 months without my laptop. Avoid these turds!

Call me when at least 50% of the software runs natively on the M1 chip.

Let me guess, those were IdeaPads? Customer service and support for all the consumer laptops (Inspiron, IdeaPad, Pavilion) is crappy, except for Apple. Business lines like ThinkPad, Latitude, EliteBook, etc., are a different story. Not perfect but much better.

This is a misleading post.
For thinkpad, you need at least 16GB RAM, 300 nits FHD screen or preferably 400 nits low power screen. So Price is not 688 but 800+

I feel as though the ThinkPad E14 has finally come of age and could be a contender as a "proper" thinkpad. This is coming from a long-time owner of a T series thinkpad
You can get one with a ryzen 5, 16gb ram, 256gb ssd for basically the same price as this when it comes back in stock on lenovo or BHphotovideo.
