I picked up the open box-excellent for 1080 on last deal, but they must have given away all the open units they had, because they gave me a new unit with manufacturer seal in tact.

Watched/read tons of reviews on this unit and it gets so many impressed reviewers wondering how they packed so much into not only this price point but also this size. LTT review [youtube.com]

Below shows how a fully specc'ed 16" i9 macbook pro compares to this unit. You'd probably get similar results from similarly specced units like m15. (the guy rambles a lot so watch at 1.5x speed)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcKwMmxoaVs

Common complaints:
- Monitor - 120hz but apparently prone to ghosting, response time is a bit slow.
- Fingerprint scanner - seems it was glitchy at launch but resolved with firmware updates (I've had no issues, some recommend not angling finger so much when registering)
- Fan noise - this thing gets pretty loud when fans reach top speed. This can be resolved through editing registry to turn off CPU turbo mode (without effecting gaming noticeably), by putting it on silent mode in armory crate, or manually editing fan curve.
- Uneven white keyboard backlighting on silver keys makes letters a bit hard to see.
- No Web Cam
- Color design - white cover, with black monitor bezel, and silver body seems a bit incohesive for some.
- Only one slot of Ram is upgradeable, other is soldered. Upgrading the single accessible RAM chip still give you dual channel on the 16GB but single channel on the balance.
- Cooling design - Not designed to run closed since opening the lid lifts unit for increased airflow. Vents occupy back half of sides so ports including power adapter and USB port start midway down the side, which may be a bit awkward.

Mixed or average reviews:
- hit or miss on keyboard quality - It feels pretty nice to me. resistant at top of keystroke and soft travel.
- Above average reviews on sound - front facing speakers that some say are awesome, others say are just decent.
- ports - it's AMD so no TB port, but it has a good mix of 1 HDMI, 2 USB-A 3.2, and 2 usb-C ports (one with display port 1.4, 65W PD).

Common Credits:
- Specs and performance - Efficient 8-core Ryzen (cores 15% more IPC than Intel) with RTX 2060 Max-Q graphics.
- Price - most of the reviewers comment on how the price seems too low for specs.
- Portability - basically best specs you can get in this 14" size. 3.64 lbs.
- Build quality is excellent although not metal unibody like Razer Blade or Macbook. Magnesium deck with plastic underneath.
- Battery life - 76 WHr, 6-10 hours with light browsing.

Basically if you want a solid laptop that is easy to carry around and yet still able to play AAA games at max or near-max settings without breaking the 2k mark, this is the laptop to get. It's an excellent work or content-editing device.
This without a question. The only downsides to this is no webcam and the keyboard backlighting sucks. This has one of the best mobile processors out there and is also the lightest laptop with a 2060. The battery life is probably also the best that has a 2060 as well.
I chose the m15 over the g14. The m15 has a bigger display, faster response time and is 240hz 1080p. My main reason was for gaming on the weekends when I am out of town. Both laptop has a soldered 8gb. G14 is lighter and more compact, with a ryzen 4900h which I loved, but the m15 with a bigger screen, faster display, and 2070 max q for $50 more is a no brainer. the Intel cpu doesn't bother me at all.

To each their own. I play cod modern warfare with light issues when I tone the settings down to competitive specs. league of legends, persona 4 golden, ffxiv, overwatch, the division 1 and 2 works fine for me. I don't suggest high/max settings with online multipler fps games though.

get what meets your needs.

This one has a nicer build and compact form factor. The one you linked is a solid gaming centric laptop for sure.

This one also has better CPU and storage, but other one has better Graphics. Difficult to decide which one's better.

It really comes down to how much work, and how much gaming you plan on doing on the machine. If you want to mostly run games, and want them to run as good as they can (including AAA games) then keep the MSI. If you actually use it to do any work on it, need the additional portability and processing power, then go with the Asus. I am typing on the Asus right now and will tell you it does feel very premium. Keyboard is great (except backlighting that sucks). This is, imo, the best all around laptop this year based soley on its ability to do just about everything very well. I was in the same boat as you, thinking about bringing my G14 back and getting the MSI. But at the end of the day, I feel for my use and just in general this is the superior machine. Not to mention that it will be provided with superior support should it be needed.

Good point. What did you mean by superior support?
